TRUE:
1. What aperture are you shooting at?
2. Steady tripod?
3. I don't know what camera you're shooting with, but I use Live View, zoom in on my subject and make sure that my autofocus is correct, otherwise, I'll focus manually with Live View. A headlamp/flashlight is crucial for this.
4. Aside from that, you might want to think about swapping lenses. If you're not getting the sharpness that you want, it might be time to upgrade. Switching from a kit lens to a Canon L-Series lens changed my life.

Growing up shooting a Pentax K-1000 has kind of made me hate auto focus.

That's funny! That's the one I started on years ago.
Thanks for the advice Seedy & Siper.

I've visited this place seven or eight times, so I didn't walk away with many pics on this trip. I did make some new discoveries about security however.
I saw a security camera that I've never seen before. It's mounted to the building closest to the train tracks. At the opposite end of the building from the guard shack. Oh, and there were two guards. Their vehicles were parked near where they stood gabbing away. One vehicle was a dark green truck. The other was a dark grey car with an orange security light mounted on top.

I went with a fellow UER member. We went in and came with no problems whatsoever.
My advice is to not get too close to either end of the building when entering and exiting. Sorry I don't have any pics of the camera.

Nice explore. FWIW, the security guard is really bored and the guy I talked to was willing to escort me in for a tour last year, but he was a little too creepy for me to take up the offer!

Smart move to decline that offer! I think I've seen that movie before.. never turns out well.

I'd love to visit this place before it gets taken down. It looks like an incredible spot.

Never expected to get in this one -- glad I was able to make it but I feel like we just got really really lucky -- not sure what to make of one of the warehouses being completely crushed with graffiti while the other is relatively bare but maybe it's the type of walls they enjoy?

Did a quick scout the other day. I was in the area for something else, so I decided to check it out.
The guard shack is gone as well as building number two. I also saw several cars parked among the construction equipment.

Went two weeks ago, the whole right side building has been destroyed and the front half off the main building has had the walls/siding stripped from it. The wind that was blowing in because of this was creating some bone chilling noises to say the least! Didn't have any trouble with security or any other explorers and got to check the whole place out from top to bottom. Unfortunately I never got to see her before she was destroyed but I am definitely thankful I made it out to Big Blue. When I left I saw a security car parked on the other side of the property behind a dirt hill so the security guard couldn't even see the building. Poor job on his part… his loss my gain~

I will try and upload some images later tonight but the uploader never works for me… any suggestions? Id like to get on Flickr but you have to create a fckin Yahoo E-mail account and I already have about 4 emails, last thing i need is another!

This is what it looks like as of a few weeks ago. There was security on the property however they were on the other side of the dirt hill which left them with no view of the actual warehouse. Unfortunately I never had the chance to see
this place in its prime before it was half destroyed but I was thankful I got to see it anyway! The wind blowing through this place was LOUD and I can only imagine how fucking creepy it would be if you were here at night. Definitely a day time spot for me especially with the massive 20ft deep cement holes littering the floor of the building. As people have said before, definitely be careful inside here if you go at night. Unfortunately the second building was already ripped down but it made for some cool shots.
