It's a couple of hours outside the city, in the province though.

It's a great place too. Lots of history, that's for sure. Can never forget though.

Hey, I know that water basin as well. Also went to Lynn Lake for my first time last spring and it was not a nice place. Good to hear it has not always been that way and hopefully they turn it around. I wanted to share some recent photos from the tunnels of Elma, MB. It is not abandoned, although nobody has lived there in decades. A friend recently purchased it with the adjacent properties and they have a farmers market every friday now. In any case, here are three photos: 1. looking at the entrance to the tunnels, 2. looking west to where the tunnels branch to the north as well as the south after 6 metres. 3. Looking east to where the tunnels turn north after 10 metres, and I can go on and on about this place so I will just leave it at that. Thanks.

Super creepy, and a sick find Transcona! How wide were the tunnels?
Over there in that pigpen, I found a couple of Shoshoni arrowheads. |

Tunnels are 1 metre wide by 1 metre tall from what can be seen in the photos.. Maybe a bit taller once the debris is removed, and you can see the tunnel opening up to the west. Since posting the photos I borrowed a total station and surveyed a good portion of the property, and even made my way into the tunnels with some survey equipment. There are now 35 metres of confirmed tunnel and I would conservatively say at least another 80 metres of 'known but largely undiscovered' tunnel. Some sort of ground penetrating radar equipment will likely be needed to safely find all of the tunnels (and if you know how we can do that for $0 let me know please). The mystery and the history is unreal. Many claimed Al Capone was there, but it is always: "I know so-and-so and they met him plenty of times at the pool hall in Elma"…. I am currently waiting on a first witness account from an interview to be done with a 95 year old woman who says she met Al Capone there several times over the years, so we will see, but I'm still not a believer in him ever being there yet. There is historical designation on the properties, and if anyone is interested in a tour I would do that, but keep in mind it is a 45minute drive from PTH 15 (Dugald Road) and the perimeter. Here is a link to a recent article if anyone is interested… http://www.whitemo...gs-to-come-in-elma Cheers O ya, there are tin cans hammered into the concrete all over the place inside the building. Like old soup cans that were cut and rolled out flat (see photo)

Hey! Been exploring for years but never got around to posting anything on here. Over the past year I've gotten into the closed off portions of the misericordia, That old plant at the end of Higgins along with other spots. I'd love to share some photos, however I'm having issues uploading off my phone (the image uploaded says the files are too large) Any info on getting pics up? Thanks W
