WANT. The lines are very reminiscent of a classic Beetle. And a Porsche. http://jalopnik.co...agen-beetle-photos

Looks like an improvement of several orders of magnitude. Let's hope this one doesn't turn out to be a chick's car as much as the old New Beetle.
PM me if you want to get join our board and get fit! |

Hopefully it isn't s total piece of shit like the first few years of the last beetle.

wow that actually looks pretty good. Wouldn't drive one myself, but I can at least say my default reaction to seeing a man drive one of these wouldn't (necessarily) be laughter. very attractive lines, especially compared to the current "new" style beetles. After test driving, and being resoundingly disappointed w/ the new Jetta, I'd say its a damn good thing VW is coming out w/ this. save for the GTI & CC, I dont even know what desirable cars they make anymore. They've cheapened the jetta to within an inch of its life - even the "sportsline" felt mushy and handled like a shopping cart.

Yeah, the New Jetta is a big disappointment. The Tiguan looks useless. The Tuareg is great. The Routan is just a Caravan. The EOS looks kinda sweet. But the best in the lineup is the Golf TDI. Represent.

I actually like the Tiguan a fair bit, I'm not exactly an SUV type person, but if I was it certainly beats the hell outta the Equinox/Terrain/Flex. The Routan is a flaming pile of crap and has more Chrysler based recalls than you can shake a stick at. VW has 2 years left in that nightmare of a contract. The new Jetta is disappointing. It's a good car all in all, but feels more like a Kia than something German. It should have been a new entry level model instead of killing the well established Jetta name. As for the Golf... I've always been a fan, and they've always been one of the better VWs. But... Bugs have and always will be my favourite.

I knew you would beat me to the punch in posting this. LOL! I really dig the new Beetle. It looks fantastic. I love the new interior. That was much needed. I would definitely rock one of these.

There is apart of me that wants to say that VW should return the Bug to its roots in the "people's car". Correct if me I am wrong, but its kind of the original econobox in a way and lets face it, it rocked. I know things have changed since then but, I think it could done still.
Hey Bandi...apparently VW might renew the Chrysler Van deal when the contract runs out...which is interestingly right around the time of the 30th Anniversary of the Caravan and a major redesign is due. Thats right, 30 years of telling Consumer Reports they are wrong

In order of preference... From a design point of view. I'd like to have the Crossfire over the Barbie Edition New Beetle so I could sell it and buy a 2012 Beetle. I mean if the Crossfire is worth more. The 2012 Beetle made me think of the Crossfire, just slightly, but the Porsche vibe is totally there. The 2012 Beetle looks like it could and should have the engine in the back. Last pic was a huge failure of VW not to follow through. New Beetle, next... New Bus. So should have happened. Now they're working on a electric version, sigh.

I think it's kinda cool how it's evolved into kind of a premium car. There was talk of bringing out a microcar called the "baby beetle" to compete with the smart car, but I haven't heard any talk about that in a few years.

I doubt it, VW fired everyone who was involved with the Routan deal. The Routan is such a headache, it's not compatible with any of the Volkswagen diagnostic stuff (We have a StarMobile thing for it), and the problems they have are just pure quality control things (Front and rear bumper skins don't stay on properly, headlights fill up with water, seat fabric stretches, sliding door harnesses get caught, constant EVAP leaks causing check engine lights, and premature rear brake wear). We had one customer's tranny grenade at 4,500 km too. I did have to laugh at the headlights though, the light diffuser has a VW logo built into it... but the back of the light says "Mopar/Valeo"

Its intersting to hear that! I know historically, the Caravans had some odd issues with every generation, but man, those issues are some of the oddest I have heard. I have friends (with kids may I add too) who own the current generation Caravan and they really have not taken the car into the dealer for quality issues far as I know of. However, I should ask the owner of a wheelchair van dealer I know since he sells and services converted Dodge Caravans among others. I figure he's a good neutral party. Perhaps GM and Chrsyler send all the cars that only pass basic QC checks to your town in Ontario I think VW might be interested first in what the Chrysler/Fiat R&D team come up with first for the 30th anniversary before making another deal. I don't think VW would bring the Sharan over here after the awful EuroVan sales...
