I read that as 'automobile tats' and thought you meant something along the lines of this

There are a lot of really really bad car tattoos out there (I mean the kind you were referring to when you posted the thread )

Highly visible tattoos that cover a large portion of your body (forearms, neck, face) automatically drop your perceived social class even more so if they are meaningless. Ask any employment center or anyone who does hiring for an above minimum wage job.

Unless they are military/police/fire dept/servicemen related, then no one will give you shit ... well maybe if you were rocking a military emblem and never served in the military.

I grew up with both parents (more so my dad) telling me body modification is stupid, drugs aren't worth the hassle, smoking is too expensive, drinking is dangerous for anyone in our alcoholic family ... guess that's why I'm lame.

I'm not too fond of the women these days who have tats on like their upper breasts, shoulders, and other odd spots that ruin the fun of looking at girls in tank tops...

Collarbone I don't mind; I just don't like the odd spots.

Surprisingly, I am fond of the girls who have like vines and chains as tats on the ankles

yeah, what happens in 20 years when you look at the tattoo, which now looks like shit, and go 'what the fuck was I thinking?'

that's when you say, "DAMN.. i really wish i had spent the money and went to a quality shop in the first place"

i am very visibly tattooed and dont plan on stopping.... BUT, i will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER get anything car related. Cars have been my hobby, then passion, then bread winner, etc etc.... but i still will not do it. i REALLY hate when people do things like that.

I'm gonna admit, I'm planning on a Jeep tat. A simple grill tat. (I don't like multicolor tats) and I'll admit its probably gonna be a mistake. But who knows.

I have one large tattoo, i can hide it if need be as its up my side from hip to underarm.
And I had no issue hiring someone with tattoos, if its on their face like Tyson that might be different, but I havent run into that situation

It's different in a trade industry, I guess. If your boss is white collar it makes a difference. One of my former coworkers wore long sleeves for the interview at a bank, passed the background and drug tests, got hired, and she came into work the first day with short sleeves and got sent home. She didn't last there long and she quit no notice to work at the bank so she lost her job with us too.

well, luckily there are some open-minded white collar corporate gigs still. My wife has worked at Progressive Insurance for the last 10 years as a supervisor. she has facial piercings, crazy hair and tattoos... progressive, though, embraces diversity and self expression. it's actually a pretty great company.

If my tattoo looks like crap when I'm eighty, I guess I'm going to sit my grandkids on my lap and say "GRANNY GOT THIS WHEN SHE WAS HIP AND COOL" and reminisce about the good times.

Also, Durdan, your wife is hot. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Her hair is bad-ass.

A guy I know has a massive tat of the Fiero crest on his forearm. He is also in his mid to late 30s and lives in a trailer in his parents' backyard and drives about the greasiest Fiero I've ever seen. And I like Fieros...
