Me being a Jeep owner. I like to know what others think about the new jeep body style? Me i think its ... a bad deal ... it cheap and poorly made now..........The CJ-YJ-TJ years were the best years...I think the jeep died in 2006...........

They make FWD Jeeps now and the Cherokee is available as 2WD. I had a 2010 Patriot for a rental in Calgary and it was about as capable on a snowy driveway as a motorcycle.
End of discussion and the Jeep brand as we know it.

I have no complaints about the JK; its performance meets my expectations; the aftermarket for accessories is just as strong as the YJ and TJ. And yes, the Patriot is FWD, but I have driven it and I was impressed. The Freedom Drive II drivetrain isn't meant to handle the same off-road as the JK, but I found it pretty good on snow and ice. The Cherokee always had an 2WD Option from 1984 to its discontinuation in 2001. All Jeeps had the 2WD option actually.

Had one for a few days now, just happy its not my daily driver. It drives ok and handles a bit, but getting back into my audi made me really happy. Havent had much time in the jeep

The CJ,YJ, and TJ were 4wd only Skelly. Many DJ's are 2wd in less snowy climates. Personally, I don't care for the JK's engine. TQ too high in the rpms for me. I have driven a few of them, and they are the most car like jeep jeep ever built. Take from that what you will, but personally, I don't like that.

I stand corrected...I could of sworn I have seen a YJ with 2WD only, but I am mistaken after looking at some old Jeep literature. However, I think the Pentastar V6 thats in the JK is fine. Sure, its no AMC 242, but its perfectly capable on and off the road. We have a few JKs in my SAR group and the owners love them; and they used to own CJs and YJs.

Don't get me wrong, the JK is capable. Maybe the most capable stock jeep ever built. But I just can't get past the power windows

See I don't mind the power windows only because they finally got it right in the Jeep. Remember the power windows in the XJ and the ZJ that failed?

In SC you don't have to worry about it. Other states vary. They sell kits. Most will just adapt motorcycle mirrors. Its easy.

here there has to be mirrors
|
|
And technically, you only need a left hand mirror. I'm sure there's something magnetic out there.

Same as Ontario. My Tercel doesn't has a right side mirror. BASE BASE BASE model.

There is magnetic mirrors; I've seen them in the JCWhitney catalog. Oregon only requires the rear view mirror to be functioning as long as you can see out the back in passenger cars. Antique cars and some classics are apparently exempt altogether.. Washington state requires the drivers side miror and the rear view mirror OR the passenger side mirror.

any opinion on this? http://skyjacker.com/product.php product jk2500k-h I found the kit for 100 bucks very tempted to do it
|

Skyjacker is good stuff; but I am old school and like Old Man Emu from ARB.

I'm not a huge fan of them...On the one hand, they made them much more live-with-able and that's good, because the main thing about my TJ is, I love it, but it's not much of a daily driver. On the other hand, they made it much more live-with-able, and I can't count how many of them have been turned into trendy soccer-mom-mobiles.
Won't you help me, Mr. Jesus, Won't you tell me, if you can When you see this world we live in, Do you still believe in man? |
