Just sold my car...

2007 Mustang GT
Premium Package (leather, Shaker500, etc)
18,900 mi
Sold her for $17,000. Considering I only paid $22,000 for her BRAND NEW CUSTOM ORDERED, and average price nationwide is 16-18k, I think I made out pretty good. Plus, the $10k cash (difference between payoff and amount sold for) is gonna be VERY nice. As soon as the check clears, I'll be 100% debt free!

RIP: 7/29/06 - 10/11/10

Why do I feel like I've lost a member of the family? My stomach burns, my head hurts, and I've got little appetite. I should be happy knowing I'm about to be debt free with plenty of cash left over to do with as I please (new camera?!), but... I can't shake this nagging feeling I've let a member of the family go.

Does anyone else feel the same way after selling a car?

Yes. There was a time when I owned more than 10 cars at one time. Its hard to cull the herd when you get attached. You seemed to do well on that one tho. Get ya another, older one for cash and enjoy liability only insurance for a while

That is why my first car (my Civic) is sitting in my parents' garage, while I drive a car 10 years newer with options...can't get rid of Frankenbumper, despite how crappy it is compared to my Jetta. It's still my baby <3

Ask bandi about not being able to get rid of cars...

i had my Beretta for sale on Craigslist for $1700. A guy showed up last night with cash in hand to buy it. He was enthusiastic about the car, but I just couldn't bring myself to part with it. I think part of it is my inability to find a small pickup that meets my needs... I want a Chevy S10 shortbox, 4cylinder 2wd. Cannot find one. I've found Rangers up the ying yang, but no S10's... So, the Beretta is staying with me.

I've been trying to sell my 2005 Kawasaki Bayou 250 and just can't seem to part with it... I have a hard time parting with things.

Well, maybe not the Monte Carlo or the fucking grabastic piece of shit 98 Cavalier sedan I had a few years back.

I feel the pain. When I sold my 69 Jeepster, it was like I was interviewing for the Nobel Peace Prize. I ended up selling it for a grand less than I had been offered by others ( who understandably wanted to build it into an off road toy ) to a guy who was going to restore it as a show off piece for his Marina in Canada and just use it to bring boats in and out of the water. It so fucking sucks gettin attached to metal, glass, and rubber.

No, that's cool. As long as it still resembles a bug.

my friend Ron and you would get along... he's got a Drag Bug, a Thing, a Type III coupe and bits and pieces of a van... and no, he won't sell any of them even though none of them have moved in a decade.

I thought of Bandi the other day. I was down in Greenwood SC in the middle of nowhere and say a field FULL of old Beetles. About 100 of the fuckers. I stopped and snooped around but no one ever came out and I didn't see a house or anyone to ask ( just a run down "shop" ). Didn't really see any rust in em where I usually do. Behind the rear windows looked good and pans looked solid in the ones I poked around in. Go figure.

There is a guy out in Bend, OR who has an yard of Beetles; my understanding is that he does not sell them but trades them for other Beetles.

You should take some of that camera money and buy a cheap car, like $1000 or less... Or a motorcycle.
