Someone ripped the back window out of my car, to steal my ipod jack and my GPS - the GPS was hardwired into the dash so they couldn't get the charger, and ended up snapping a trim piece in half and ripping a bunch of wires out from underneath the dash trying. Did this happen in Detroit, where I spend 60% of my time (in rough areas?) Nope, happened in West Bloomfield - the 4th wealthiest city in the country. Every friggin time my car has been messed with it's been in a "nice, safe" area - Northville, Birmingham, West Bloomfield; parked in the slums no one touches it. Four months ago someone stole an air compressor out of my storage unit in Troy - thieves should be publicly executed... slowly.

Seconded. My car was broken into while parked at my parents upper middle class subdivision. I was robbed at gun point while working in a nice neighborhood. I've lived in "the ghetto" for seven years and never had a problem.

That really sucks. When I lived at home in the summer within a month there was a stabbing, a missing woman (who I think is still missing) and a bunch of break-ins while people were sleeping all during August, and I lived in one of the nicer suburban areas of my town, not near any sort of ghetto. The population of the city was only 67,000 too. I've had my iPod and all my ID in the world stolen one day when I was at work years ago. Still pissed off as hell that somewhere out there someone has an iPod with "To Julie Happy 18th Birthday Love Mom and Dad" engraved on it.

Heh, I was counting the cash in my wallet while sitting on a bench by the McDonald's at Woodward and Willis at dusk and no one bothered me at all. Parked my car on a lonely side road in rural Ontario and had my window smashed and a couple CDs stolen.

Three weeks ago almost all my camera gear, somewhere around $4k, got stolen from the trunk of my car along with a bunch of rolls of film I shot. I don't even have a working tripod right now.

Damn dude, that sucks - hopefully insurance will take care of some of the cost?

When I worked in Ancaster, a small town in Ontario, theft was very high. My apprentice had his truck stolen from our shop. Middle of the afternoon, shop overhead doors wide open, truck in sight, stolen right in front of us. We didn't notice until the truck took off and my apprentice had a dumb look on his face. It went accross the grass onto the neighbouring parking lot and took off down the road.

In downtown Vancouver, my sister had her Audi broken into for a protein bar. There was nothing else in her car...
They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn! |
