That is fucking great. Did it work? I would assume that USB plugged into an old school serial port wouldn't work automatically, or would it?
I don't think I've ever made it past the 2 converter point. I have however installed a Popsicle sticks and a pencil in a webserver to keep it online.

Supposedly it worked. I did not pull this off, it was just something I read. Crazy thing is that it runs in the parallel port.

i have an old dell poweredge i cant get parts for that is running our legacy finance software...on win2k. we are going live with a new finance software next week and i dont want to mess with the old software, thats why the server hasnt been vm'd yet. The hard drive fans have been slowly dieing, ive been scavenging fans out of dimmensions and rigging them to work

I saw this on Gizmodo and it appears to be fake. From the commenter on the page about this:
-The USB stick has a orange light that should activate when it's connected. The pic has no orange light.
-Someone reproduced it (with pics) and reported it not working.
-People spewed technical mumbojumbo about chipsets and buses explaining why it would be impossible to work without custom written drivers.

Yah, in my OP though it was a serial port, the old school big kind, not the smaller 9-pin one. If it was a Universal Serial Bus device is plugged into a Serial Bus, then perhaps it could work....just because of the word 'serial' in both of them lol. But then it would only be two adapters and not as cool.

This will not work. Its a 25 pin genderbender, then a DB25 to DB9 serial adapter, serial to ps2, ps2 to usb, then a usb drive.
I'll start with the PS2 to USB. these adapters only with on USB keyboards and USB mice when connecting them to a PS2 port. A USB flash drive will not work in a PS2 port. For one thing, data is only designed to go IN a ps2 port instead of both ways like USB.
Serial ports also will not make sence of the differential signals such as those used in USB. Also, the speeds required to operated USB are completely unobtainable through a serial port. USB 1.1 runs at 12000kbps, USB 2.0 runs at 480000kbps, Serial runs at 115.2kbps.
Impossible, simply put.
I also noticed that it is most definately plugged into a paralell port. with no electronics to convert serial signals to paralell... connection between ANY serial device from mouse, modem, pritner, or USB device is utterly unobtainable.

I wasn't a sega guy, so I have no clue. ALl I recognize is sonic, a game genie, and a cleaning thing. WTF you can't actually play with the cleaning thing attached, can you?
