I often wonder how the fuck Cali is the car mecca of the world. Don't get me wrong, tons of cool shit there car related. But for fucks sake, come to SC or another state that has NO inspections. NO emissions ( And I mean none, you can't "legally" pull your cat but as the cops says, we don't have inspections. Cheap insurance, Cheap DMV fees, NO trailer tags. NO ATV registration.
I mean, one of the things that would honestly keep me from moving to Cali (besides tons of shit that would have to go to another board) is the vehicle restrictions.

$650?!??!!?!?!?!?! wtf! why?
|
Not sure about CA but in MI the registration/plate cost is based on the MSRP of the vehicle if newer than 1984. From the MI DMV site: "License plate fees for 1984 or newer model year passenger vehicles and light trucks are calculated using a percentage of the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) at the time the vehicle is first titled. This is also known as the base price." This means that a light car (less road wear etc) has the same fees as a heavier vehicle of the same price. Does not make sense to me. http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-1585_1587-25272--,00.html

because it's California and we have no real public transit, thus you MUST have a vehicle and they know this.. so they rape you..over and over and over again.
oh and I forgot to mention that it doubles next time I have to pay.. new taxes and all.

about the only good thing about my little corner of New York is that we don't have emissions testing.

The new yellow New York plates are pretty fucking offensive. They look like dealer plates out here.

and the best part is... NOBODY FUCKING WANTED THEM. It was just another ploy by the broke ass NY government to make MORE fucking money off it's people.
|
|
You want to rape people for money, fine. But at least make it a design that doesn't suck ass so they at least have something to show for it. It just makes me want to drive my car until the wheels fall off even more. Fuck those yellow plates. WTF, this is NY and you give us yellow and blue plates? (yah we may have had yellow plates a few decades ago too, but they were fucking dumb back then too)
He who rules the underground, rules the city above. |

first they were blue with gold lettering, then gold with blue lettering and then we had the Liberty plates.

Here in Cali they want to put digital ads on plates. Once the car is stopped for a few seconds it will start flashing ads. WTF? I ain't gonna advertise shit for nobody unless they pay me. c
The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us? |

Then there will be a massive recall of the plates because they're distracting and cause accidents. ...hack it and put porn on it.

In a perfect world, everyone who owns a car should have to be able to perform basic routine maintenance on it to keep it in good running order. Oh, and be able to use a paper road map.
Keep it fuzzy. |
