Here's what i do all day lol This customer owns a company called Gamermodz and uses his car not only as a rolling billboard, but also as his race car. He's wanting to compete in the RedLine Time Attack series in the unlimited class, so we decided to build him one hell of a car The Car:
The Motor: we ordered a brand new VQ35HR block from nissan and sent it out to Darton for a full sleeve job and also went with the Brian Crower 4.2L stroker kit. Also head the heads completely ported, polished, flow benched, blah blah
Checking main bearing clearances:
whenever i assemble a motor for someone, i make it a habit of drawing on the pistons as a gesture of good luck. in the last 10 years ive been building motors, it hasnt let me down yet!
I also gave it my signature:
We're also using the Greddy Twin Turbo kit for the VQ35HR, but even the 20G turbos they come with (20G only on the kits for the HR) won't make the power we're searching for. So, we had them machined via our good friend Kirk at www.TheBoostLab.com:
More pictures to come as it progresses! The front timing chain cover, the intercooler end tanks and all associated turbo piping has been powder coated Kawazaki green as well. We also developed our own forced induction intake manifold for the HR. dyno tests to come!

looks pretty awsome. but why did you write all over the pistons? (nevermind, actually reading a post and not just looking at pictures clearly owns me) and the picture of the piston rod looks like a dangle in disguise

What size wheel is that? Looks like you have a reason to travel with Redline now.
An armed society, is a polite society. So lets get to it! |
|
those are 60-1 wheels

the motor as it sits in the showroom, waiting for the car to get dropped off and everything swapped out
also, we built a one-off custom intake manifold for the project. can't wait to see forced-inducted dyno results! on the N/A power plant, it pulled insanely uptop, but it definately wasnt designed for N/A use. the true test will be before and afters with it on the turbo setup

Nice! Looks like your shop does some pretty tidy work! I used to build race cars for Mitsubishi Motors Canada... including ACP's Evo X that ran at the X Games this year.
hi i like cars |
|
just a little update:
on the dyno last night with this car and we were running out of fuel pump but at 15psi of boost, the car made 803rwhp
1000hp at the wheels doesnt seem far off at all at this point

moarrr turbooooo

Very nice looking... I love reading updates on the build threads. Did that trip to the Middle East ever pan out for you? And while we're on the topic of boost, I have a question (sorry about minor threadjack, but I was wondering...) When it comes to any form of "twincharging", which is best? Does it vary by purpose? i.e. Turbo on a Turbo, Super on a Super, Turbo on a Super, Super on a Turbo, or even two turbos covering 1/2 the cylinders each
Me goin' legit would be like JarJar on speech therapy. I'm on Flickr now! My Flickr Stream | I'm about as thick as a Bryk. |

there is PLENTY of turbo here, trust me. what we DO need more of is fuel pump. once we get that issue situated, we'll be hitting 1000 wheel hp with no problems

i challenge your shops turbo 350z against my shops turbo gallardo for the laulz
|
|
I think what Nismo means by "needs more turbo" in his own simple way he is saying that you can never have enough power... Now if you could only drop a blown Alcohol burning Hemi into in that 350z that would be a cool car!

i'll take that challenge only if you're the one that built the gallardo. that way it's fair.

i did not build it. i have no where near enough skill to pull that engine out and build it, even though its pretty much an audi.

Hahn makes a Twincharger kit for my Cobalt SS... it's retardedly expensive, but the question does come up: Is it worth the cost? Or would it just be cheaper to either build up the LSJ? Or swap in the newer LNF 2.0L Turbo?

I really wanna do a turbo upgrade on my car, but the financial adviser in me wont let me do it I cant justify dropping 4-5k on my car like that.
