last week i went to change the oil in the ladies car, oil filter and drain plug were so freakin tight i had to use brute force to get em off. i went to do my car before, and yes i was in a bind and went to jiffylube in februaray. well i go and have a look, my oil filter cap in the ecotec is all bunged up, like they put it on with vise grips.....

Typical. I worked for Econo Lube and Tune when i was 18. I accidently left the old oil filter o-ring on the block when i installed a new one. The customer called 10 minutes later down the road with oil all over the ground. I had to go fix it. My point, people who work there are usually on the learning curve. EDIT: ...or stuck in the learning curve.

While I do most of my own oil changes; I do once in a while go to the Jiffy Lube down the road from me. However, there is a few things that keep me safe. 1) I went to HS with the manager AND the franchise owner. 2) They know I would kill them if they screw up any work 3) I throw them fleet business because he runs a clean shop and he knows I can have all those accounts fly away if they screw up.

Been to one once. Didn't reset my monitor/sensor, never went back. Do all my own or have it done at the dealer while on lease.

I have nightmares about jiffy lube. I even torque my oil filter and drain plug.

A Jiffy Lube near here drained the oil from a co-worker's car, but forgot to put fresh oil back in it. Needless to say, her car blew up after just a couple of minutes.

did Jiffy Lube buy another engine and pay to have it put in? i have the dealership my brother works at do my oil changes. Everything is done properly, the fluids are topped off and each technician there is either family or friend. I trust these guys.

I used to work as a porter at a Chevy dealer. The mechanics there are nothing more than glorified Jiffy Lube douchebags who refer to the book for everything, because they know very little.

No. Stop being a sensitive ninny. Are you so butthurt that I insulted a Chevy dealer, that you believe I'm insulting your friends? Are you sure you don't have a Chevy tattoo on your butt? reason for edit: removed extra character

She got a whole new car. I don't know the details of who paid for it (insurance vs Jiffy Lube), but I would have to assume JL paid at least something to avoid a lawsuit.

well i went to jiffy lube in a pinch, im a stickler for oil change intervals, and well i went because it was winter and didnt have access to a shop. first and last time. just to clear it up, jiffy lube pulled out of quebec 20 years ago, they re branded pennzoil express, they are the same guys that run the garages at walmart up here. anyways, they screwed up my friends oil change by leaving the plug loose, he got a new engine in his asuna

Only had my oil changed once in a shop, and it was when i was having a butt-ton of work done to my engine and he just did it for free since I needed one anyway. and he still tightened the oil filter wayyyy too tight So I'm with everyone on this one Changing oil yourself > changed in a shop

the four guys that are working at this dealership are not like you described. they are mechanics. two of them work out of their own garages after work. my brother worked at a small repair garage... i'm not butthurt, it just pisses me off a little when you go flapping off at the mouth about people you don't know, especially those people that are close to me. you had one experience at a shitty dealership somewhere in California (i assume). so they're all like that? Bandi is one of those guys, too? He works at a GM dealership....

Sam, you are being an idiot. I was talking about the dealer i worked at. Go reread my UNEDITED post. Maybe you will understand it if you read it 100 times. Stop being a raging simpleton.

Jiffy Lube used to be way worse when they guarrenteed your oil change in 30 minutes. They would cut corners everywhere.
