So is there any new news on upcoming meets?
I’m getting bored of only visiting the few places that I know to explore over and over again lol

I'm not even hanging out with my best friend right now, let alone my close friends, let alone relatives, let alone UER peeps. I'm gonna wait another few weeks.

The wise bird hit the nail on the head. We'll start doing local meets again whenever it's viable. In the meantime, the forum's still here.

Sick of seeing the same places? Show us some pics dude, maybe we haven't been!

I imagine this is on the unattainable side, but interesting to think about:

Mapping Edmonton's long-forgotten coal mines

Technomancer has poked around in the river valley a bit about coal mines. I think he found a few foundations and stuff

The odd twisted rusty section of lifted track shoved off in the bushes, or set of cart wheels, etc. is about all I've been able to find of the coal mines. Did a fair amount of research & legwork as well.

Very stupid idea, but if we know where some of the entrances used to be, whats stopping some night digging

Short answer is a combination of age & geology. River valley is pretty sandy, not very stable. I've got a book or two on the subject of the Edmonton mines, if I can dig them up I'll recommend them to you.

That's awesome, even if just as an idea. The obvious comparison is the Paris underground, just not as old.

What are the odds of the sewage system having some sort of connection. You might be able to get close to one if you go through one of the outfalls.

As far as I've been able to determine, the sanitary & drainage systems were both built without making use of existing mine excavations, despite rumours to the contrary.

If you want to see more, here's the Alberta Energy Regulator map of coal mines in the province.

https://extmapview...oalMine/Index.html

Go to the Layers tab & uncheck "Access" to get rid of the roadways overlay so you can actually see.

The mine numbers correspond to this list.

https://www.aer.ca...ineDataListing.pdf

So when discussing mines, a "shaft" refers to a vertical portal, whereas a horizontal access is called a "drift" or "Adit."

Question, is spelunking a thing around yeg. Like I know of some caves around the mountains, but there hours away. Not asking for specific locations, but rather if caves and stuff exist in the area.

If not, is there anything with a similar experience?

A great way to start is by posting pictures of places you've already been.

Immediate area? Only the drains come to mind in terms of underground.

But if drains are your poison, you're in the right city.

Anyone know if the drain near here is still open? I still have mixed messages about it.

Also I thought I read someone talking about looking for an abandoned mansion, I just got a friend who went and I'm trying to follow up on a location
