Wow, interesting thread. I would agree that the security precautions seem quite excessive for such a dilapidated old barn. I did a bit of research of my own and found a picture through Google Earth/Panoramio of the area (dated Dec. 31st, 2010) that shows the old barn in the background. Not the greatest picture or view, but it appears that the white door on the right of the barn is not only there but locked at this time. http://v1.lscache3...ginal/45847017.jpg And another picture (#1, attached below), from M$ Bing, also dated 2010 if I'm interpreting 'NAVTEQ 2010' correctly (anyone know if there is a way to get a more precise date for satellite imagery through Google Maps/Bing?). The door is open! So it seems the barn is still in use or at least visited occasionally, which is not terribly surprising given the extreme security measures. Also note that all of the windows in the building to the south were open at some point in 2010 when the imagery was taken, but were later boarded up again (picture #2). There is a ton of land use change happening between 2010-2011 in this picture, which you can clearly see by comparing the pictures. The small road that leads east of the barn, for example, where did that come from? And what is that pile of stuff to the east of the barn in #3? I haven't the foggiest idea. The new road (as of 2011) that heads east, however, intersects with a road from the 'biorefinery' to the NE, which makes me think the 3 events (boarding up the barn, the new road, and the new solar plant) are connected, as the plant appears to have been built in the same year the road was.
I don't have the net at home or I'd mess around a bit more later and see what else I can find out... We really do need some pictures of the inside of that barn.

I haz formal name for the building & owner info!!!!!!!!!!!! Weldford Barn Owned by: KEVAMRA LLC 55.4 acres purchased on: 05/14/2002 for: $4,430,000.00 Looks like they planned on building houses there: http://www.ci.broo...Service%20Plan.pdf http://www.co.broo...--Highlands%20.pdf Plus I found an online directory of some detailed interior photos! IMG_3128 makes me think they were taken by an explorer. http://www.barnstuff.com/gallery/weldford/lg/

Thanks! I was worried I'd ruin the fun for everyone, but none of my research has given an explanation for the super-secret quadruple-padlocked door... Is that door with the 4 padlocks on the INSIDE of the barn? I re-read the whole thread trying to figure that out, but it wasn't clear... if that door is accessible, maybe peek through the doorknob?

Ha..true, the above. But the locks are on the outside.

OMG, thanks to Haller's pics I just noticed another really odd thing. The other "building" near the loop of the dirt road, is not really a building anymore. I parked next to it. It's not as tall as it must have once been, etc...it's just a wooden mess. But these sat. images show they boarded up the windows to even that pile of wood.

Oke people, move it a long. Nothing to see here just an old barn. Dont mind this post nothing of interest. Now just look at the screen for a free neurolise

That southern building is certainly part of the puzzle, it was carefully boarded up in 2010 it looks like, along with the barn. But then the road was built around that small building instead of the northern one. Some pictures of the inside of the south building might provide more info. My guess as to the order of the satellite pictures I found is: Early winter, 2010: The barn and the southern building are completely open and apparently abandoned. If anyone knows the approximate date the snow usually leaves the area for good we could narrow this date down. Summer, 2010: Suddenly everything is locked down very securely. 2011: Big changes. A new road, two new small boxes south of the new road, a big pile of stuff next to the barn, strange circles (I can't decide if they are artifacts or real physical features) north of the barn, etc, etc, etc.

Wow, wicked finds! Well researched. Your document mentions the developers plan "A partial or full restoration of Weldford Barn". My only question is, if they bought it in 2002, why wait 8 years to board it up? Also, 4.4 MILLION dollars for 55 acres? Holy shit, that is some expensive old shack!

All of their top sekrit 'X' files are stored there. Not like the TV show, but like they used to be files. They don't use them anymore and do not wish to give away trade secrets. The reason they use 4 padlocks is simple. Dynamite can only blast open doors with 3 or less padlocks, having 4 makes it impervious to dynamite attacks.

Thank you, I have a knack for researching locations, it drives Dora crazy! If they ever do restore it, I'd love to see it! As far as waiting 8 years to board it up, who knows man! And uh, yeah, 4.4 MIL for that parcel seems rather insane!
