No surprises here. I visited in 2006 and while it was a rather nice park then, it really went into decline afterward. They shut down a good chunk of rides without explanation, the accident on Superman Tower of Power certainly did not help, then this past year they began removing their star attraction for "waterpark expansion". I'm hoping Greezed Lightnin' goes somewhere safe, or Great America gets the ferris wheel. http://www.sixflag...ntuckykingdom.aspx

This is the park where the girl had her feet ripped off by the cable, right?

Yes, unfortunately the park had been in a death spiral ever since then. In a twist, however, Six Flags legally cannot remove any rides from the park right now, as they're actually owned by the state of Kentucky. Six Flags, and the previous operator leased the land from the Kentucky State Fairgrounds.

Another plot twist: After SFGAm got the approval for the two height variances to build Chang, but did not show at the Gurnee village board meeting, Chang is now bound for SF Great Adventure. Meanwhile, Great American Scream Machine has a death warrant, I believe Saturday is its last day.
