for a moment, join me in considering the possibility that engineered (read, artificial) life will one day be created by humankind. assume that this life is self-aware, and that we have imbued it with rudimentary emotions, cognition, sapience and the capacity to learn. it differs from us in that it is a mechanical/technological construction and can interface directly with electronics. It possesses both the advantages and disadvantages of that nature. what are the philosophical implications, if any? i cast a broad net in the question, and welcome any perspective however far afield it may be.

Good question Alek. I have some questions about this. Since we created it, do we own it? Would it have a soul? What if it decides to turn against us? What if it decides to breed with us to create a superior race?
These are questions that came to mind just now.
