Thats because thats the only damn car you drive. Of course its going to be the best snow car youve ever had.

i've had other cars, you know.
Also, Nismo, snow tires on a 5-liter Capri made not one damn bit of difference.

Oddly enough, I get by just fine without snow tires? When I go up north or during the rare snowfall down here.

well, you are showing your age and inexperience. You can have $300 snow tires and still find yourself stuck and in a ditch. I have never had snowtires on my cars (other than the Capri) and I have never had a problem going anywhere. Most of the time I am running a BF Goodrich white-lettered radial... so, say what you want, it just illustrates your age and lack of experience.
Someday, Nismo, you'll learn to think before you speak.
But we still love you, kind of like the one retarded kid in class...

theres a reason why they passed a snow tire law, they make a HUGE DIFFERENCE in handling and stopping in snow and ice. Any place that gets a descent amount of snow should pass a winter tire law.

Kinda like chain laws? Which I hate with a vengeance. Experience > any traction control/ snow tire/ law any traffic safety tard can come up with. We usually get ice storms here. Not snow. Snow is like mud with a guaranteed solid bottom to dig too (sometimes). Try some ice one day. Its fanfuckingtastic.

i live in the Adirondacks... some of the worst winter weather on the east coast, same with nearby Vermont which I drove in for work for over ten years... you don't see idiotic tire laws here. Why is that? Because like any other 'mandatory' equipment law, it is designed to deal with the lowest common denominator, that is people that probably shouldn't be on the road anyway, regardless of the weather.
Also, mandatory equipment laws are just another way of a state or province to rake in more revenue through bogus ticketing. All season radials with a Mud + Snow rating are more than adequate for probably 98% of the conditions the average driver will encounter... the other two percent of conditions, well you should've just stayed home. :p In my experience, studded snowtires are overkill.

I stand by my 20 years of experience driving all over the place.

sam i have to agree, ive always had snow tires, just because i do a lot of rural driving and i just feel a bit safer, i always buy the cheapest snow tires i can find, right now on the cavalier they are 5 years old and pretty worn out, but they are still above the indicators and i wont be getting a ticket for not having snow tires. but making them mandatory just creates a market for near bald tires...

Most all season tires perform just fine in snow.... it's ice and extreme cold temperatures that get you into trouble rolling on your all season rubber turned all season ice blocks!

because 9 times out of 10, Nismo is talking out of his ass.
like now...

as for ice, well, i'm not going to go to the extra expense and put studded snows on a car for a situation that I will probably not encounter in a given winter.
