that's even more eclectic that I.
My Beretta had maps under the seat, maps of Milwaukee, Minneapolis and St Paul. Wanna hear the strange thing? I think that the car belonged to an 'explorer', because there were notes on the side of the map about known locations in those cities...

wouldn't that be something if the car came from someone on this board?

I've been listening to a lot of Rammstein lately. I think it's quite healthy.

With Sams maps.

It would be funny if the car belonged to one of the cops that everybody is so freaked about. You know the ones...... they follow explorers every move in order to break the back of the UER photog trespass ring!!!!!!

Not me but one of the techs I worked with at Wally found a .25 cal handgun, loaded in the airfilter box of a mid 90s grand cherokee. Guy who had it came in a lot but usually just got LOFs (lube oil filter) and decided for the whole thing this time cause he was goin on a trip. Had the Jeep for 2 years but never bothered with the filter.Typical slack owner. They (I was off that day, of course) called the cops who took the gun and just ask the owner where he got the jeep. Some buy here pay here in town. Never heard anything else about it. Course I quit about a month after that.

Dude! What a serious cock-punch!

They should have left it there and asked the owner about it when he came to pick it up, then allow him to call the cops if he wanted to. It's not your business that he keeps a gun in there...

I can't think of a much more secure place to keep one in the vehicle! That's what I call ingenuity!

Keeping a gun in the air box of a 4.0 Jeep would also keep it very well lubricated and prevent it from rusting I'd have to think.

I've found a lot of stuff in my cars-

In my Suburban I found 25 refrigerator magnets shaped like telephones, one of those metal loops used for grooming horses, a gas station squeegee swiped from a Citgo station apparently, I forget what else.

In my Blazer i found a tow rope, a Deftones bumper sticker, a whole bunch of random electrical connectors and gold audio system hardware or something, and part of a Jackie Chan movie puzzle. And a dog biscuit.

In my green 74 Impala I found an old laundry receipt dated from 1987 in Wiscasset, Maine, a spare tire with wheel that wouldn't fit the bolt pattern, and a lug wrench that wouldn't fit the lugnuts.

In my yellow 74 Impala I found little notebooks with math problems calculating the car's gas mileage for every tank of gas, logs of where the car was driven, receipts for work done, an old matchbook from 1976 detailing some sweepstakes for a supermarket, and every other piece of paperwork from it's history including dealer's bill of sale, original title in the unwrinkled envelope it was mailed in, cancelled bank check (or whatever it is) for the purchase of the car, everything!

I just bought a 93 Caprice with 57K on it for 1000 bucks to use as a winter car until I have the rear end in my truck rebuilt. It had been owned by an old lady in her 80s that went to a nursing home. I found this 40-50 year old unused first aid kit in the glove compartment.

Also found a pair of green carpet samples, a bunch of ice scrapers, and index cards (complete with crudely rendered pictorials in ballpoint pen) to remind the lady of where certain switches and levers were in the car...lol!

one of the equipment yards i used to work at used to buy ten to fifteen year old eighteen wheeler tractors, dismantle them, and pack them into cargo containers for iraq/afghanistan among other things. anyway, im in the back scrounging for parts for a job, and find a sleeper with a bigbird plush doll and a skin magazine next to it.

now i dont know what went on in that sleeper before we got it, but it was probably illegal.

My first car was a 75 Nova...

We tore apart the interior to re-upholster it, and found some roach clips and scales between the cushins in the front bench.

For the longest time, I wondered why my car stunk to high hell when it ran. I thought the coolant might be bad, so I took the overflow tank off and dumped it. Some greenish-brownish liquid came out, followed by 5 well baked field mice. Guess that explained the odor...

It is more likely that you don't want to get too close to that big bird plush doll... can you say "sex toy"? yes... I thought you could.

Oh... also, in a '74 Sunbug I bought (But sadly parted out because it was ROTTEN), a Polaroid photo of the original owner sitting in it, as well as an employee parking pass from 1987 for security at Warden Woods mall in Scarborough.

Weird thing about that? I used to live by Warden Woods mall around that time, and there was always a gold bug parked there. Small world. Especially since I bought the car 3 hours away from there.

I suck.

Out of the hundred or so cars I've owned the coolest thing I've found was a 9/16" universal socket I found in a '77 Grand Prix.

It was a Snap-on. Probably worth more than the car that I found it in.

A friend of mine had one of those mid 80's Toyota vans... he was driving it back from BC and picked up a couple of hitchhikers. He stopped to drop them off where they had asked, and they started getting pretty pushy about driving them somewhere else, which wasn't on Rob's way at all. They kept getting more and more unruly... and then just stopped and asked to please get out.

Rob had forgotten about this until we were cleaning out the van a few summers ago and found a pretty big knife that had fallen in between the centre console and the passenger's seat.
