i drove my VW spun down last year with the aristos on it, did quite well except for that time i got stuck on the plowed street and needed a tow truck to pull me off the street. haha that was interesting.
im sure you know already, the skid plate saves lives (i had a steel one in my mk4)

The only issues I had driving the slammed Tercel in the winter was getting stuck in deep snow once or twice when I had to take off, and one night coming home from work really late through a snow storm. Snow was drifted across the road in about 3 ft drifts, and I just kept plowing through them.

After an hour or so of this, my wipers slowed down, the blower cut out and my lights went dim. Car kept running, so I got out, popped the hood... and it was entirely PACKED with snow. Had to chip out my alternator with a snow brush.

gotta love that. My VW had a great custom steel skid plate so i loved hearing ice chunks slam off the underbelly. it even hit the road sometimes if there were tire groves in the pavement from regular traffic usage

no the DG is aluminum. theres a guy down here in the Toronto area who started making custom steel skids (close to the DG design)
http://www.precisi...hp?products_id=785
theres a link to it. when i bought it the guy was still selling them out of his house then he started selling them through precision tuning. thing saved my car on a daily basis and never even dented. had some gouges in it and some blood on it (couldnt always avoid roadkill unfortunately)

i'd like to get one for my Beretta... the tranny pan and aluminum oil pan are a wee bit exposed on an J/L/A/X body.

it's not just Montreal... Quebec has a thing about good roads; there aren't any. Even 15 sucks.

no its our tendering process for road building and depending on what government is in power when they are issued, look at highway 13, all concrete and in great shape, highway 20 has been re built 6 times in my lifetime, all asphalt

thats actually another reason this skid plate was so good, it didnt hang super low like the aluminum ones because it didnt flex like they did.
i spun the coils all the way down the day before my montreal roadtrip, it rocked the skid a few times out there but because of that skid plate i could still drive it home with no issues
