my 89 IROC

Look what i came across while looking through the garage this evening. This was my second car when i was 19-20, the one that got me interested in car culture and car clubs. To this date, i think its the coolest car ive ever owned. It had a 5.7 350, 700R4, the wheels with 2 lines on each spoke. Damn engine seized because the oil filter punctured after a transmission rebuilding. I lowered the car and forgot to remove one jackstand, and it hit the filter. There didnt seem to be any damage until i got on the freeway and the car stopped running. It sat in my dads garage (i had an apartment), and he sold it to someone for $700 because i didnt fix it in the time he allowed me to keep it at his house. Oh well, you win some, lose some (nice cars that is!).

I might sound biased when i say this, but its still the best damn IROC ive ever seen in my life. Pics taken with a good old disposable camera. Nobody had digital back then!

Sweet ride Dave! Thanks for sharing the photos. What kind of condition is it in now? You are restoring it, right? Some updated photos would be great to see!

I was living in an apartment across town at the time, and i put the car in my dads garage in a posh HOA neighborhood. I failed to repair it in the time he gave me, so he took the pink slip and sold it to someone for $700. The last time i saw it, is when it was towed to some dudes crackhead shop.

Nice looking car. Surprisingly good pictures for a disposable.

Any idea where the car is now?

I saw that, thank you.

I've sold many cars in the past and I know where most of them are today. That's why I asked.

The last time I SAW my '67 GTO was in 1981.

I still know where it is and what condition it's in. I also know how many times it's been sold and who owns it now.

That's why I asked.

What makes me sad...

Someone my parents used to know had a 67 GTO, red with white leather interior, one owner vehicle.

The idiot traded it for a Buick probably 8 or 9 years ago.

I would have kept that car with the condition it was in, only driven in the spring/summertime for 30 years.

If i knew where it was, i would have tried to buy it back. Im not sure its in good condition, because the dude my dad sold it to was a really dirty guy who lived in a warehouse near the port of Los Angeles.

I know this is off topic but, to some people they are just cars.

When I sold my GTO it was a 'special interest' car but not yet 'collector'. 400 ci, 4-speed, four barrel. Probably a mid 13 second car right from the factory.

I think I'll start thread for the cars that got away...

It might still be sitting in that warehouse with an inch of dust on it.

With the same damaged oil filter.

Hehe. The whole area was leveled to dig a new docking area for the Port of LA.

Sweet! I always liked the 3rd gen body style. My mom had a white IROC she bought new.

My favorite IROC acronym is "It Runs On Cologne"
