i thought you said real Fords?
I had a Merkur XR4Ti that was way hotter than the European Ford Sierra it was based on. I don't know a whole bunch about the Euro Ford Escort other than the fact Tupsomato (on here) has one. I know they were big in Rally
You want to do something, find an XR4Ti and save it.

My buddy had a Merkur XR4Ti, it sat there in his garage for years. I called him up one day offering to buy it, he had given it away to some kids down the street. Ofcourse they fucked it up royally, smashed it a week later. It was mint, but had some electrical issues.
Hard to find them here now, there are some but they all have the 5.0 swap done, which is a waste in my opinion.
I worked on my principals xr in highschool during auto, I never had any problems working on that thing. I like it a lot.
My uncle had a scorpio (4 door), that thing hauled too, nice car.
In the future I would like to find a nice ford turbo coupe, and an xr. Love them both a lot.

mine was an 86 Merkur XR4Ti... the downside was that it had the C3 automatic. Too weak of a transmission for that engine and the weight of the car. I think it was Tiny Avenger Motorsport and Rapido Inc. that bought up Fords' parts bins here in the US. The popular swap with these cars was taking out the weak ass Ford RAD 5gear and installing the T5 out of the Thunderbird TurboCoupe, Mustang SVO, Mustang Turbo GT and Capri RS Turbo. I've seen these cars with 302's in them and that's just a waste... it upsets the whole balance of the car. These things were handling little weapons in their day.
Like to find one again...

And... sweet photos. I'll own a Sierra Cosworth or an MK2 Escort one day.
I've spent many, many, MANY hours under the hood (and dash) of a '94 Ford Corsworth Sierra RS ex WRC rally car. It's so bloody overengineered, and such a brutally fast car. It's not the most practical car to rally since it's pretty raw compared to a newer EVO or STI, but man it hauls ass. The other downfall is if anything breaks, we generally have to call some teary eyed brit named Nigel across the pond.
I'll post some pics on lunch...

Ian's previously mentioned Escort Cosworth rally car. About 400 horsepower, dogbox, etc... it just screams of repressed homosexuality.
My friend Ryan's stock Escort Cosworth. 314 hp.
