...is by far my favourite book, I'm reading it again for probably the fifth time. The whole version of the world presented in the book has always been a really interesting concept to me. Anyone else read this one?

Yup. I've read it, a lot, surprisingly. Cyberpunk stuff was a hobby...way back when. It was mentioned in Corey Doctorow's Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, that's where I first heard about it and looked it up because I didn't understand the reference. Shael

Yeah, I'm a proud owner. It's pretty good but struggled to break free from the Neuromancer shadow. It was criticised unfairly. However, I think Neal Stephenson really kicked ass in his next book 'The Diamond Age' - His best book ever, IMHO. Read it, man.

My bf wanted me to read "The Big U" which I believe is by the same author. He adores that book so much. I guess I'll read both then.

"The Big U" and "The Diamond Age" are both Stephenson novels, and quite good, but Snow Crash is still my favourite.

I'll vote for The Diamond Age over Snow Crash, too - it feels more original in style, while Snow Crash still has that lingering Neuromancer sense to it. That said, Snow Crash is still great.
