I wouldn't have minded new plates, only because mine are getting a little old, but I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATED that the plates were yellow and blue, and I was against them being mandatory simply because they were being used as a means for Paterson to raise funds for the state. They served NO other purpose beyond money-making.

You're bitching now?
Just wait until the Obamanator implements Universal Health Care. Where you think that cash is coming from? Taxes bro...... your taxes!

Um... duh... where have you been? I've been against the dude since 2007...

Posted by Agent Skelly

I'm willing to pay for those taxes.

But thats a topic for the Politics Board...

You're willing to pay them now... wait until you actually start paying them without getting anything back.

Canada is a socialist country, so yes, they're going to have ridiculous taxes on everything. The United States is starting to head that route too. And the sad thing is people bitch about it and then elect the same old politicians again and again and again and again.

While I'm against the taxes, I am for getting the people who can't afford to properly license/insure/maintain a vehicle as they are a threat to my economic stability.

I don't want to overstep Bandi's authority here, but lets keep this to car related talk please. If you want to argue healthcare, take it to the Politics Board.

Anyways, the thing that is irking me about this is the fact that Patterson you can see only spent five minutes on the plate design itself because its a combination of the the Empire plates and the 1961-1962 black/yellow plates. Patterson could actually save money and up the registration fee and require everyone to have a yellow registration sticker instead.

Well one of the reason that the Liberty Plates were replaced with the Empire plates (among many other official reasons) was the issue of license plate forgeries.

However this is just one of Patterson's stupid ideas since he does not know people.

No, couldn't be... I drove to Albany before I had my car registered with this. It's about an 85 mile drive from my house. LOL.

exactly fuck people in the states are so broke ass, some one on the news said she had to cut her cable and phone to pay for gas to drive to work cause that stupid bridge is closed. I pay 200 a month in insurance, 100 something to renew my license every year and 225 x 3 on plates

Look son. Its easy to belittle those who pay for their own lives, when you live with mommy and daddy and have nothing better to spend your money on. When someone is paying rent/mortgage, gas/elec/water/trash, taxes, all types of insurance, groceries, and fuel for vehicles....every single dollar counts.

You wouldnt understand being someone still shelters you. Requiring the entire state of NY to buy new plates, when everyone already HAS perfectly good functional plates, is an issue that ALL residents should have a chance to stand up against.

An old scam with plates I have seen and I'm sure some of you guys know it is the old trick where you take another license plate from another state, paint strip it then find a way to print onto it the state/province you do want.

We have those too. And its not 100% accurate. And they don't search the entire DMV database either...they only show vehicles logged in NCIC.

Well thats because NYSP knows better than to pull over a car with VT plates unless there is smoke coming from the windows

And this goes back to the Liberty Plates where there was lots of fake plates combined with people driving without insurance. It was a big problem and got those jackasses off the road.

here in the greater Toronto area you pay $74 for the plate renewal, $25 for new plates, and an additional $60 for transportation tax ($30 for motorcycles tax)
and $80 to renew your licence.
the plates that Nismo is talking about is what we have in ontario for trucks (i think)
obviously different in all regions)

either way, driving is expensive, and i dont like paying the extra cash for transportation taxes when my butt already hurts for gas prices, i'd feel better if the roads were actually maintained better like they say the tax money is for
