....Metal Dashboards.

What iconic idea or car or anything car related do you wish they would bring back.

It won't happen due to saftey regs or emissions bs but what do you miss?

The old talking Chryslers -- "Your Door is Ajar'
The automatic seatbelt a la 1990's Mazda's & Fords
Wait no, those were retarded

The function where you could pull the e-brake up one notch and get the headlights to go out completely.

No daytime running lights

I know the still exist but the digital dash I had in a 1990 Maxima was f'in sweet. Beats anything new i've seen

Those are required by law in some locations.

I wish The cowl vents in old fords had stuck around, the lever under the dash was like your own personal wind tunnel on demand.

I miss hidden fuel filler locations, like under or behind tail lights or license plates.

I miss two cylinder A/C compressors, large enough to run a shop full of tools.

I miss my torquey old big block ,posi, automatic barking the tires into third.

I miss motors that don't sit sideways.

The old fords that I owned had cowl vents right behind the hood, they would open like a hood scoop. They had a screen in them to keep out large things, however water and bee parts could just whip right in at 45 MPH.

I miss wrap around windshields, and rear windows.

And I do agree with you, trouble shooting on today's cars would be almost impossible without OBD.

I just miss cars simple enough not to need it.
