Your stickers aren't facing the same way your engine is. =P

Shifter is nice. Pull up on the ring for reverse? I always liked "different" H patters. Everyone puts reverse at the bottom right of the pattern... there isn't much variety to gearboxes anymore. Like dogleg first gears, no one uses them anymore!

I think your car would look a lot less "busy" with the ground effects body colour instead of silver matching the stripes, but that's me, personally.

I always try and give you a hard time, but it's nothing personal. Criticism goes both ways, too.

My question for you is: Do you like it as is, and if not, what would you do to improve it?

Looks good!

I kind of love the 4 door Cobalt SS Turbo... I generally like 2 door cars, but man what a nice little sleeper. Massive 4 pot Brembos up front, 260 HP, very suttle rear spoiler and what look like scaled down rims from an Impala SS.

Yeah Samarui, keep up the good work on the Cobalt.

Maybe I won't have my future kids come over with giant ice cream comes from Uddery Delicious and stand next to your car after all...

painting the ground effects silver was a 'family' thing... the Monte Carlo SS Supercharged cars were painted with silver 'ground effects' and I thought it would like nice. What the pics don't convey is the fact that the stripes are not a plain jane metallic silver... there is a blue ghost to them and the paint on the car itself changes in different light. It goes from a serious blue to almost purple when the light changes.

The biggest thing that I want to do it right now is get cross-drilled rotors, a beefier caliper (front and rear), the heavier-duty autocross knuckles and some different wheels. I also had my eye on a strut bar and the Ingalls Stiffy torque brace to take some of the fear out of hard launches. I had my eye on a set of Enkei RSF2 wheels, but i doubt they're available for a Cobalt SS bolt pattern. With me, a car is never done. Ever. I'm always doing something to it. Right now, I hate the silver accents on the dashboard. One of the reasons I went with the blue-lightning kit from GM was that I hated the silver. Currently, the radio and heater control panel are still silver. I checked with a salvage yard and it's not so simple just changing the heater control unit from a plain jane Cobalt to an SS. So, that project is at a standstill.

As an aside to wannabeotaku, do not, I repeat DO NOT get the Hurst short-throw shifter. I was very disappointed by it's construction and 'feel'. The throw is solid when you're knees deep in the shit on a twisty road, but the feel when it's being fooled with is sloppy and disconnected. I recommend either the B&M shortthrow or the TWN. Folks on CobaltSS.net are very helpful and the site does apply to ALL FWD Delta body owners, not just those with the Cobalt/Cobalt SS.

Also, the kicker with the Cobalt SS is that GM lied their asses off about the available power. Many folks with the supercharged car are finding that their engine nets closer to 225hp than the advertised 205hp. That's the reason that this car can run with big dogs outside it's price class. There is nothing so satisfying as showing a Mustang GT pilot taillights and being able to run out to 153mph. The Turbo SS is showing closer to 275-280hp than the advertised 260hp... For the money, it's a fantastic deal. $23k nets you that engine, Brembo brakes all the way around, a suspension that set an FWD record on the Nurburgring, nice standard ammenities... it's Win.

But thank you for the kind comments and the honest criticism. What I have done to it is, honestly, not for everyone. I was trying to capture a little old school Chevrolet muscle car in my 2007... I tried the same thing with my 2005 base coupe, but I was never sure if I carried it off as well as this car. I have decided that this is a car that I plan on keeping for a long time. It's got almost 73,000 miles on it and still brings a grin to my face. I mean, in colder air, this thing is a fucking animal. Third gear from about 45-110 is like INSTANT. I installed a drop in K&N the other day so now, all you hear is the supercharger whining. It's a very intoxicating sound.

Sounds like some solid plans. You sound like me, never finished. I have a question on the hood protecter/bra. I put one on my GT mustang back in the day (89) and had problems with it screwin my paint up so I just used it on long trips, do you have the same problem with that one or have they changed the design as to not screw up the paint and buff it dull? All in all man its a badass car and I have heard the power numbers were sand bagged to keep it from eatin into the more upscale/expensive models GM is sellin.

a hood protector is fine as long as you take it off periodically, usually to wash and wax the car. Also, it's important to keep a good quality wax on the hood. In the case of my car, i had it a hair too tight and it rubbed the paint to primer on one corner and needs to be touched up.

i think with GM sandbagging the power ratings, it was more to keep the car able to be sold to the 23-35 year old demographic it's aimed at. If it had more power on paper, it would be uninsure-able. Detroit did the same thing during the waning days of the muscle car era.
it was ludicrous to think that a Ford 428 Cobra Jet was *only* rated at 335hp, or a street hemi at 350!

my dad had an 89 Mustang GT ragtop

Man I miss mine. It was the same color, I had some aftermarket rims on it but still kept the turbines, hatch with a 5 speed. Does anyone else ever think that its awsome that some of us on here will argue back and forth in many of the forums but the cars forum throws all that shit out the window. Lol. It brings us together lol. The cars they heal the wounds and erase the wrongs. :p

well, yeah, the inherent flaw of understeer inherent to Front Wheel Drive... But you gotta admit, it's does turn pretty damn good.

Your car looks good sam. Simple and original. Personally, I'm not much for that cloudy effect blue trim you have inside, but otherwise it's nice.

the dash trim is very polarizing, but I just did not like the silver trim on the instrument panel. In person, it does look better than in the pics. The camera makes it look like a cheap wal-mart add on.

I think if you got a can of paint to match your car, then did a 50/50 mix with clear and painted them, they'd match better. I think they'd look more sinister, too.

Too much effort, I know. But aside from that and the Night Shade, I really like your car.

Just as long as it isn't woodgrain. GM loooooves fake woodgrain. LOVES IT.
