Saturn Shutting down.

http://www.dailyfi...wn-saturn-brand%2F

GM's negotiations with Penske fell through, so it looks like the end of Saturn.

What killed it? Penske had an agreement with another unnamed company to manufacture the vehicles, but Penske's board said no to it, so there went the sale. My speculation is that Penske had an agreement with Ford or some other GM competitor, like Toyota or Nissan to make the vehicles and GM wouldn't go for it. What they said though is that it looked "tenuous" to them, that it might not work out, so instead they'd rather kill the brand than let the sale go through, even though the article says Penske backed out.

Saturn dealers have till October of 2010 to wrap up operations/sell off vehicle stock, then that's that for Saturn.

I was speculating it was AM General as they have a perfectly good plant that was used for the H2 and H3 that would of been perfect for Saturn production.

that's too bad. Saturn was always a solid car, although a directionless brand towards the end.

Well AM General has other contract business now in addition to their usual military vehicle lineup. They are making the MV-1 cab for Standard Taxi, which is a really neat product and to make Samarui happy, it uses GM engines

Apparently, the plant that Penske was looking at for manufacturing was Renault.

H2's and H3's were / are not assembled in the same facility

H1 & H2 Assembly is at Mishawaka Indiana same facility as the military HUMVEE
H3 assembly is at ShrevePort Louisiana with the Canyon/Colorado and also in South Africa for overseas markets
