yeah, shut up... bought my dad's old F150 today... $500 it's a 94 F150 2wd long box, 302/auto. it was once silver, but rust is the dominant color with what used to be a blue interior.

It was never silver. Rust is the only colour that they ship from the factory. Silver is when it petrifies.

Samarui, Ford Trucks are probably one of the things that Ford will never screw up on. They are just as durable as a Chevy truck and pretty easy to work on. I actually might be looking at getting an ex-railroad Ford Ranger down the road.

They're good trucks, just a bitch to work on like most Ford products. Did front brakes on a '96 Ranger 4x4 today... what a ridiculous bearing/hub setup.

Well, I find brakes on any car annoying to work on...

Brakes are gravy!!! When a Pontiac Montana comes into my shop with over 40,000 km and the customer reporting a squeal or grinding sound, it makes my day. Man I LOOOOVE flat rate.

My stepdad had an '89 F150 4wd brand new. The biggest things we had troubles with were the universals and the paint. That year was a bad bad year for paint, so I'm told, especially the paler blue with the white "panels", the paint would keep flaking off on the cab and the hood. At least four trips to the dealership for universals and two for paint fixes before he gave up on it. We had at least three spectacular universal joint failures before it was 2 years old. Loud, nasty ones, where you could hear metal grinding against metal. At least two of them required tows from Plattsburgh home. On the bright side, we had a 1999 Ranger with 180K miles that's still running around, the body's falling apart, but the engine and transmission are both still sound. Only thing that's gone wrong with it that I know of is clutches. We put one in it, the guy that has it has put at least one, possibly two in. Shael

I love Ford trucks. The only thing i hate about any Ford with a modular motor in it, is how hard the spark plugs are to change. That, and the fact the cylinder heads until 2004 only had 3 threads to hold the spark plug in. There are hundreds of thousands of incidents of spark plugs blowing out of the block.

With all the shitbox vehicles I own, I'm always doing brake jobs. I've said this before, I replaced the front pads on a '95 Ford F150, all I did was toss the pads in the general direction of the rotors, they damn near installed themselves!!! The hardest part was pulling the floor jack out of the garage.

That's why a lot of the Lima guys buy the DOHC B234f heads off of Volvos which makes upgrading to those heads on a SOHC volvo more expensive...

with mine, it was something about the cam being shot... kept shattering and blowing #4 right out of the head. After I changed the cam, followers and valve seals, no problem.

Hey that Ranger came back with a blown brake line above the gas tank! LOVELY!
