Congratulations, I hope you will be happy, I think you will. The last Crown Vic I Owned.
The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave. |

How dare you call me a dick! It a well known fact there is a segment of hams in the Adirondacks that lets just say are pretty bitter about the direction ham radio has gone in the past 20 years. There's a good group of hams in Schenectady and Plattsburgh who you probably would like.

actually, Skelly, I am the ham operators kryptonite here... my friend Ty used to have all this ham gear, and other shit... i'd fire it up just to be rude, get them pissed off and have them start threatening me with FCC this and FCC that... like I gave a fuck. you've got a hobby. whoopty fucking doo. it's not like you're all darth vaders' radio rockers to the gods. what was cool was he also had radio shit that could get up into the state polices' band... we got stopped one night in his BlazerFromHell and he looks over at me and says the apocryphal "Watch this." He had the radio stuff on and grabs the mike as the cop goes back to his car. Every time the trooper would key the mike to call Ty's stuff in, he'd key the mic and stomp on him with "Dick." and "Asshole.", you get the idea. After about the fourth or fifth time, the cop gave up, came back to the door and gave Ty back his shit. It's probably a good thing that the cop never put 2 and 2 together...

Well, your buddy Ty can let you operate the radio under his watch; legal under FCC regs. Gah, I hate it when people take their ham rigs out of band...not so much because they can do it, but more of the fact your standard ham rig is designed with not so much precision and you end up bleeding places your not supposed to. I run all commercial gear mostly (Motorola) which is pretty top notch.
Do you know if the dispatcher responded back? I'm wondering if he just keyed over the repeater input.

LOL... at rally races we always try to avoid any conversation with the ham operators. You usually cannot escape. (BUT... if you call it a CB radio "by accident", there's a 50/50 chance they'll leave)

YOU ARE BANNED FROM ALL RALLY RACES IN NORTH AMERICA NOW! Actually the guys who work your races out there I can't stand. They run communications rather informally (they use the Mountain Top method) and also seem to have a lot of the crackpot hams in critical areas.

I've heard of him...one of the Rally America officials I was talking to who is from Southern Ontario (His name was Adrian if that rings a bell and looks like Weird Al) dropped his name when talking about how the hams run communications differently in Ontario. Googling his callsign I see he tries to be a jack of all trades, master of none type of ham...which there isn't a good track record on.

Yup, that's Rob. There's the right way to do something, and then there's Rob's way. Rob's way is always the right way, according to Rob!
