Finding drains in Chatt isn't hard
Finding decent ones is a different story though.

I've heard stories of UTC steam tunnels, but no real details.

One of the older guards at the old EPB Building used to say that there was a door in the basement that led into the underground, but I could never find it when I worked there. Man I wish I had had more time to explore THAT building. Or at least should have taken pics of what I did get to explore.

FINALLY!!! I have been waiting the three days to finally join in on this!!! Ok so I was a tour guide for Chattanooga Ghost Tours, Im the guy who looks drunk in "underground chattanooga" I am also the guy who found it for the tours. I used it for historical purposes, bc my tour had a heavy emphasis on humor and history. There is not much of underground chattanooga. Some buildings, like the sports barn have a part of it. Most of underground chatt is literally buried. Some of the older buildings have a "basement" which is actually the first floor from when the street level was a floor or two lower than what it is now. There are a lot of great place to explore though outside of underground chattanooga. US Pipe is completely fenced up, so you have to get through that to explore. There is also an abandoned building near by, with torn up railroad tracks and foundations around it, that my friend and i got in to this week. Nothing too amazing, just a completely gutted office building. There are two buildings across the street from the Choo Choo that we are planning on going through. My fiance and I are really wanting to do some Urban Exploration. So if anyone else wants to, let me know.

Here are some of the pics from our adventure. We made a bunch of great discoveries. These pics are from the property surrounding it, the office building, and what appears the employee parking with a homeless guys "house". We got a pic of it before we saw him and decided to get out of there in case he was crazy. I created a new thread to cover our adventure.

Send one of us folks from chattanooga a message. Chris Kicker and I are going to an abandoned church today. I think the school is destroyed. I had some friends tell me about it and they said it was gone. I am pretty sure. Let me check and if i am wrong i will modify this message and make myself look like less of an idiot.

Yea it's been torn down. That's what's annoying, we can't get the pictures anymore. I will have to see about doing something next weekend as I work 3rd shift.

Are you talking about US Pipe? It's on 24 just west of Chattanooga proper? They've fairly well gutted that building, and they may still have a guard stationed. That said, you'll never know unless you try!

I do agree that the site is now in a pretty bad condition. Did not see a guard though. There is still some sheds there, so maybe they use it for storage and they need a guard?

When I was there, there seemed to be an active industry on the other side of CSX tracks, at least security lights were on and A/C were working. Further down the access road, there is some sort of loading station and a 3 barrel trucks labeled with 'Hydrogen Peroxide'. Maybe this is a distribution point? There is also a big warehouse directly at the access road entrance but it was all fenced up, plus I was running out of time. Looking forward to the event!

csx has a big something at the end of the road. the fenced in thing is abandoned. Chris-Kicker, my wife, and I all went through it one day. the big warehouse is not active, the one you can see from the freeway. there is a place that is active next to it. but most everything else is abandoned. it was one of the first ones my wife and i did together.
