I have a copy of Endless Summer on DVD, but I've never seen the second one. Oddly enough part of it was filmed at my then residence - a scene where they're feeding kangaroos?

CR400, no, that's not me, just a pic. from the net. I still vividly remember trying to get the fuck out of the water and being dragged out again to be pounded by the next wave. I remember being jerked right out of my flippers straight up and then down again and again, then once again trying to get out of the damn water.

Oh, I went right on my ass attempting that multi-360. Should have used the Fibreflex, not the long board. Oh well.

I watched that youtube link you sent!!!! I think the big problem with that type of wave is, there is so much white water and foam generated, you can't swim up thru 5 or 6 feet of white water, too much air, you're not buoyant in it, but you can't breath it either!!

Sorry about the 360 fail, I'm right now soaking some bearings in one of my old boards, this one has the old amber colored urethane wheels. Should be interesting!! Thanks again for this Sam!!!!

Good thread - brought back all sorts of memories. Like you Sam my favourite deck was a Santa Cruz bowl board (don't remember what model); I put tracker halfs and kryptonic reds or bones depending on what I was doing with it.

I tried using my 10 year olds at Christmas when she got it ... lets just say my centre of balance has changed a bit in 20 years...

Were you there as they were filming?

I would have loved to meet those guys, Wingnut, Pat O'Connell, they're idolized in these parts.

I was there, but was but a spotty youth at the time, and despite living in perhaps the surf capital of this country, I had no idea what it was all about

I just kept finding old boards, even found a redwood board that my wife made in 1974 shop class, still rides and looks great, just to small and twitchy. The crappy board on the left was the one that rides the best, (see fat guy)

So, You guy's are really gonna let me look like the only old UER farthead going thru a midlife crisis, thought I'd see a few grampa's posting photo's by now.
I actually crashed a few times, the shots just looked like an old man laying on the ground.

You still got it! I am sure by the end of summer there will be a few of me. My daughter is graduating tonight. Issues there with me where I am thinking I am getting old.

WEKurtz time to prove that I will always be an immortal teen, ha just not on a skateboard.

Hell, I think were all perpetual teens. I still fell like I'm 20, but a broken neck, broken back, broken shoulder, 2 broken arms, broken foot, have all started to let me know how stupid I was in my younger years.

I guess it was smart to stop racing motorcycles, as printing out the injury list shows me that I obviously was lacking in the skill department.

Kurtz, I look forward to seeing your photos, I was surprised at how natural it felt on that board, I'll bet it had been at least 3 years since I last was on one of them, and only for a minute or so.

Shell, You're not getting older, You're maturing like a fine wine, getting better every day. Don't go out and start riding skaterpunks, they're young and you don't want to get sued if you hurt any of them!!

Right on Kurtz, you kicked ass!!! I love that speed tuck. Your boards are much nicer than mine, I'm glad to see you wore a helmet, at our ages brain cell loss is in no need of assistance.

Now we gotta see Sam in a 40MPH tuck!!

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn!

I've just got to cut me some of those wheel cut outs in my boards, I lean into a turn and hit the wheel, it's like I slammed on the brakes, SUCKS.

Nice boards!!!!!!

-They call that "wheel-bite", and it sucks big-time! wheel bite can lead to a pain, blood flowing and a mouth full of bloody-chicklets. After i cut the "cut-outs" in my latest board/s(using a 76mm wheel) my wheel bite ratio has all but diminished. i can turn 360 degrees in about 6 feet of space, not bad at all.
i still get "bite" with a super tight turn, but who turns super tight at a high rate of speed anyway.
i used "Paris" trucks on my newer board designs and an 1/8" riser, so the board is about 6" off the ground which is still pretty low.
i have to say the latest board i have built is by far better then any board i have ridden or bought!

Skate or die...

because i used mine more for transport than getting rad (lol), my trucks were wicked tight. It was truly set for me as none of my friends could ride my boards. My skate was also ridiculously fast, mostly i think of the lubricating 'cocktail' i soaked my bearings in in. You can't go wrong with 3n1 oil, automatic transmission fluid a dab of power steering fluid. (it was what was in my shed)
