Growing up: I watched the Brooklyn Dodgers play at Ebbets Field I rode the "Parachute Jump" in Coney Island I sat in the White Only section on a Greyhound Bus in the south. I had Barbara Streisand in my high school history class. I handed out "Vote for JFK" buttons. I never knew China was so close to Vietnam until I got back. Every toy from my kidhood is now worth big $$ (don't have any). not easy to say this.....................................1946 (Do I win the "oldest" prize?)

Thanx Sara, tell your dad I'm very happy to share the prize with someone. (Sooo glad it wasn't your Grandfather!) And I am glad to be a member of so diverse a community. Looking forward to meeting you guys in person someday.

I remember when I had to make sounds for my toys. When my toys made sounds for themselves my dad took it to work to play over the PA system. Tim Tim Tiger grhhhed when you pulled his string. Oh ya no email to forward the cool stuff. Had to ditto copy it and hand it out. My dad had my Tim Tim Tiger in his locker when we did the plant tour of Kodak. All those ditto copies had brown paper taped over them. Pics of naked girls were still ok to tape to the walls. I still remember after the plant tour we stopped to rent the VCR (it was huge) to watch a movie that night. Color Tv that I did not have to hold the foil on the rabbit ears to get reception. NICE!
A mirage is not an optical illusion. It is a real phenomenon, and one can take photographs of it. The interpretation of the image, however, is up to the fantasy of the human mind. |

You have a good memory for details Shelly. Color T.V. was some time in coming for us but we had a plastic sheet with three colors on it that you put over the screen to simulate color. We dug it. It livened up the really good shows like Kukla, Fran, and Ollie, Amos and Andy, and the Lucky Strike music hour. And yes, you had to get those rabbit ears just right. Rainman, Rob,..Thanks. (edited to add those names)

we were elite, bitches... we had an antenna on the chimney of my house that had a remote-controlled rotator attached to it. I think i burned up two of them tying to watch cartoons after school.

We killed rotors right and left. Every time you turned around, we were replacing the rotor motor on the TV antenna. Thank God for cable. Shael

"I never knew China was so close to Vietnam until I got back." This gave me chills. Thanks for doing what you did.

We had cable until the neighbour's idiotic contractor ripped it out when putting in a pool for them. He refused to pay, they refused to pay and Rogers told us they are not repairing it for free. Dad finally said "piss on it" and reconnected the roof antenna. Worked great and the motor was replaced once when the antenna was hit by lightning. Scared the living crap out of me when it happened as I was outside. I was 12 when that happened and I still remember how the ozone felt like it was burning my nostrils and the sound felt like a fist hitting me. I was fine but just shook up very badly.

17 years for me on the 28th of June. I don't know where all that time went either. My mom was laughing the other day. She graduated in 1970. She said, "Don't bitch until you're coming up on 40 years out of high school." Shael
