I know a lot of times, the loss of a pet is trivialized but many people I know love their animals like children and I have seen them deal with that loss and go through the same grief cycles as anyone who has lost a human loved one. The best support site I could find for this is posted below.

Show up at 9:30 with 15 dollars cash and your fingers crossed. <Mandias> I think she's gonna slug that cop. -------------------------------------------------------- <Axle> "She's just not a farmer Owen, she has too much of her Father in her." <Axle> Death by Hut | |
It feels awkward and childish to grieve over a pet, as an adult, despite knowing that there are undoubtedly others going through the same thing. Good to know there are sites like that around.
