Anyone interested in cooperating on a KMZ file?

This is my rough drafts with about 30 points, mapped by cruising Flickr, Live Maps and Topographics:

Man, I have always know that East St Louis was a hellish place, but I didn't expect this:

mutantMandias may cause dizziness, sexual nightmares, and sleep crime. ++++ mutantMandias has to return some videotapes ++++ Do not taunt mutantMandias

mutantMandias is something more than human, more than a computer. mutantMandias is a murderously intelligent, sensually self-programmed, non-being

Here's the file, Version A1.0, that is of the screenshot above.

http://substreet.n...009/02/mwf-v10.kmz

There are two ways to contribute to this, one that involves Google Earth and one that does not:

Google Earth-Save the KMZ and open it in Earth: Add to it as you see fit and link (in this thread) to the revised version. Versioning will be as follows: v. 11, v. 12, etc.

Not GEarth-Paste here (or PM to me) the coordinates and descriptions and I will add the points manually.

Every week I will release a new "master" file, indicated by a preceding letter. For example, early next week I will post a file 'Version B10' indicating that I have compiled all the changes throughout the week into a new template for everyone to work off of.

We should be able to dig up dozens of places to check out--maybe even some the locals don't know about yet!

Wow, there is a lot of cool stuff there. Its gonna be hard for me to fit it into 4.5 days. I'll contribute what I can, though you have covered A LOT.

Edit: the River Des Peres system looks promising as hell.

James, will the storm sewers be accessible at the time of our meetup, or will the Miss be too high?

It really depends on the rain amount. If it hasn't rained in a couple days and no plans on it raining that day we would be good to enter them.

My only comment about all the outfalls is that pretty much every storm drain in St. Louis is combined sewer. You can only go about 200 meters into them before you hit the "lake of shit." I've heard there's a cool grotto type spot at the beginning of River Des Peres where the lagoons in Forest Park drain into it.

Sometimes, we just have to be brave, and accept that the thread has passed on. Remember the happy times, and ask yourself, would the thread want you to be sad? No, it would want you to go on, and live, and have new experiences. And, once in a while, you can think back to the old days, and think about the thread, and smile.

Cool roundhouse! I wonder if that powerplant's still used for storage or something... lots of activity around it. Added to the next release (Sunday, maybe, after I add in some more things that I found on topos).
