Every now and again I will see a Typhoon or Syclone up for sale on craigslist near me. Wish I had the money...

A buddy of mine just sold his...
Dave, I need a manual 325iX. I don't care about the engine (could come without one), but it needs goodish paint, and a full drivetrain with a manual transmission.

Believe it or not, I have a soft spot for Berettas. First I rode in one as a toddler and loved that car, and then when I was 14 a friend from school bought an 89 GTU, Black with red int., 2.8 V6 and... 5 speed.
Car was beast.

I had an '89 Pontiac Firebird with the 2.8L V6, automatic... That car was cool, but a gutless wonder... it would jet up and down the highway okay, but it couldn't get off the line to save its own life. I always thought it would be so cool to put a tricked up 455 w/6-speed in it...

two different engine families... even though they shared displacement and general layout, the FWD V6 that 944 was talking about was the Gen II. The F-body soldiered on with the Generation I 2.8L until about 1990. What was incredibly ironic is that you could make a 2.8L V6 run with just a little imagination, so hot rodding how to and some bolt on's. The engines were raced in many circle track applications. oh and that vintage F-body with a big block... can you say TWIST! definitely need subframe connectors and mad bracing for that fun. Ever see a Fiero with a 455 in it?

ahh... well, that explains that. Don't get me wrong, I liked the car just fine... It was just INCREDIBLY weak under the hood.

no. never even heard of such insanity! Surely you jest? I can't imagine cramming a big block in something that tiny.

there's a couple of kits for the swap... a guy in Evensville TN (where I used to live) had a couple of Fieros. One had a 455 taken from a Toronado in it. Another was rocking a 180hp H.O. Quad 4 and the other was a daily driver with a 3800/SC stuffed under the hood. This guy knew Fieros!

There is also a kit to swap a Northstar V8 into a Fiero.

Xanadu, I'm with you on the Syclone and Typhoon, those things are insane. I have an '85 S-10 with a now out of production bodykit, and it kind of looks Syclone-y. (Well, not really, but a hell of a lot better than a regular S-10). edit: And as for me, I'm easy enough to please: '53-'54 Chevrolet Bel-Air, or '57-'58 DeSoto.

Jeez Dave!! are you sorry you started that?? You probably have 22 cars awaiting pickup in your yard, F.O.C.A. Fiero owners club of America, They do alot of V8 swaps and have kits. Last I heard they were in Orange County CA, Westminister I believe.
I want a 1977 Renault LeCar Turbo.
