A boring lab procedure video for MIT is going to be a different kind of motivation than a Victoria's Secret runway show. Basically, my best motivator is when I've invested myself emotionally and intrinsically to a project. If I'm just getting paid for a video, then I work better with extrinsic motivators like a demanding/high profile client, or a truckload of $€¥£. But even that will always be less than the personal work. But if I don't feel a project, nothing will motivate me at all so I just avoid those projects and decline them when presented with them.
