I really wish they would give this one another swing.
They totally used the wrong equipment to try to prove this last time.
What they need to use for testing this myth is a device call the "Matterhorn" from Danley Sound Labs. It is the only subwoofer that is "semi-portable". As in, if you have a semi truck, it is portable. It is a horn loaded subwoofer built out of a shipping container with 40 long stroke custom 18" subwoofers, each with a real 1000 watt amplifier connected. Yes, one subwoofer with 40,000 watts of power.
It is totally wicked sick.
It has the bandwidth to find that "special" resonant frequency in your body that will begin to liquify your innards. With most people the frequency of interest is well below the bandpass of the subwoofers that they used to test this.
Anyhow, I still think the show is fun to watch. It gives me ideas of fun things to build.
