Anyone know somewhere that I could get a diagram of the layout of the break lines for a 92 ford Taurus online? I can't find the Chilton's manual for the damn car and I just want to limit how much cash I throw into it at this point.. In the past few days I have needed to replace a serpentine belt in which a bolt head snapped off because it was completely rusted through (that was fun to get out...), Then I needed to do an oil change because it was damn near dry, but when I moved the car to get onto the ramp to change the oil the rear driver side brake line exploded and spewed fluid everywhere, and the damn thing still has a crack in the radiator that I can't pinpoint.. God damn do I hate fords seems like every time you fix something three more things fall off..

Take apart the old one and copy it, or just use some cheap flexible rod and make a template to copy before you take the old one off.

if you're replacing the entire line, you can buy the pre-bent assembly for the car. If you're just doing a patch with a compression fitting, you can usually bend it yourself. NAPA still carries Chilton Manuals (which are FAR superior to those shitty Haynes books), but you have to order them. Now, if you have a friendly Ford dealer in your neighborhood, 9 times out of 10, they are more than happy to photocopy the brake line schematics and specs for the average joe. Get a prick-like service advisor or parts guy, well, you know how that turns out. I have like 8 radiators for that vintage 3.0L Taurus... my dad used to drive them and stripped a couple of cars for their weirder, more expendable items. I think I still have a complete 3.0L engine. You can't give them away because, unlike the Ford 3.8L, the 3.0L V6 is a fucking tank.

I tell ya.. I don't understand why someone came up with the idea of making a radiator outa plastic.. I am 90% sure that there is a crack under where the upper hose connects to the thing.. I thought about using those "JB weld Sticks" on the thing although my dad thinks it won't stick worth a crap due to the entire area being covered in antifreeze residue, although if the crack is where the plastic joins with metal I think I am boned anywhoo.. But I'll deal with that once the car has brakes again..... It's a never ending battle with this POS, Looking back I really wish I just did the crap tonne of work and fixed up my old volare after it got runover..

i hate to say it, but those radiators are shit. You might end up having to bite the bullet and order a replacement, or get one from a salvage yard (make sure they pressure test it first). Once they crack, they are almost impossible to fix. I say almost impossible, because I have seen it done successfully, but that ratio is real fucking small.

|
You wouldn't randomly have a guess what range a salvage yard would sell one at would you? New they seem to range between $90-$160ish new from Autozone or Pepboys.. Depending how this brake job goes I may be wandering out to a salvage yard to grab one..

Powells Books here in Portland has a huge section of beat up service manuals and repair guides for all sorts of cars for mere pennies.

I think it was Nostra-youppi that walked away with a whole shop worth of manuals at some point last year when a dealer went out of business. Most of the GM dealers are going all electronic and dumping their library of service manuals.

Where I work we've got every service manual from '72 to '98, for damn near every car GM ever made (The dealership's been around since 1910) You'd shit a brick if you saw the "library" there.

Wow, the must of sold McLaughlins in 1910 since GM Canada didn't come around until 1918!

Yea.. My local library won't give me a new card till I pay then $30 for the chilton manual for the '79 Volare that I used to have but got wrecked like 5 years ago.. I decided I would rather have something to remember that car by then be able to get crap from there.. That aside I think the 3 other volares in my area I ever saw are gone as well.. I miss quality made cars, Stupid ford..
