I've got an 87 325iC with 108k on it. So much fun to drive. I'm thinking of selling it an getting an iX or trying to find a cheap 635i for up here in buffalo.

anyone else drive an e30?

Trying to find an iX for a ski car. Unfortunately they are $$$$. But yeah, if I find one, it's going to have some coil-overs retrofitted and a small turbo just to push ~300whp (all the T-case can really take on a daily basis).

But I'm also wrapped up in turning my E36 into a Time Trials car so it will be probably next winter or so.

I've had a pile of them. Started with an '89 325is ///M Technik imported from Germany, then bought an '86 325e for a winter car, then an '87 325i 4 door, then an '86 325e 4 door, then a pair of smashed 2 door '86 325e's, then an '84 318i, then an '89 325is Hartge 2.7, and finally, another '84 318i.

So yeah. I've had some experience with e30s!

Currently driving a '72 2002

(I'll try and find some pics of the Hartge and the other cars, there's a pile of them on my old PC, which is long since dead... but may have them on a disk.)

Ran from 88-91 IIRC.

88 was coupe only, and Recaros came stock....

I owned a 85 318i, and an 82 320i (e21). Both cars were a blast when they ran, and a moneypit when they didn't! Don't discount the e21 as an option, they're IMO better daily drivers because they're simpler to work on.

The issue with the E21 is they love to rust, and they have Bosch CIS Injection, which can be utter hell to get working properly if it has problems

... although the early Bosch Motronic/K-Jetronic systems on the E30s sucked ass occasionally too.

All it takes is a 3mm allen key and hella patience. Rust... eh. Not all cars have to be beautiful!

...unless there's varnish from old fuel built up in the fuel distributor causing the metering plate to bind. Total horror show... especially on a Porsche 928 or 911. Oooooh man.

However, having said all that, I'd still totally rock an E21... or any Porsche with CIS.

Well, if you get a price, let me know, pictures are nice too. I'd been down for a road trip if it's in half decent condition.

The XI was just what the called the more modern version... like 2003 and up or something like that. So not an e30, but still an all wheel drive 3 series.

edit: i can't type to save my fucking life.

Yes, teh iX only lasted for three years, 88-91. I'm pretty sure Sam means an iX as they didn't start Xis until the E46 (1999).

And iX > Xi
