I STRONGLY recommend the following music and video by this band, if for no other reason than the fact that it will scare you senseless: http://www.neurosis.com/media.html Listen to "To Crawl Under One's Skin" for an example of what I'm talking about. Make sure to turn the volume up. ~D

I agree with D on this one. Neurosis makes great scary music. Also see Fantomas: Directors Cut. Various songs from weird movies. Fantomas: Delirivm Cordia. What my nightmares sound like. Gravediggaz: 6 Feet Deep
side note, the cover from Morbid Angels Alters of Madness would make a wonderful tattoo... <E

Godspeed you black emperor! is scary in a very sad sorta way if that makes sense. They've been getting heavy rotation by me of late.

Sounds like a distorted Tool. I like it.

I find people get kind of freaked out by RAMMSTEIN, great band though. People either find it weird or scary.

I've noticed the same thing. I remember one time I was listening to it with my dad riding in my car. He was all "What the hell is this?".

I love Rammstein. I don't know anybody who is scared of it.... nor do I have any friends that can sing along with it, like I can... hehehe.

I never got that reaction with Rammstein, I just had a friend translate it for me. Megaherz is another good German band.

Yeah, the reaction people get with Rammstein is understandable. I don't like them to much and can`t understand why they are such a popular band everywhere.

Yeah I got one of their things in my collection. Great mini-symphonies of despair. aargh: you've got taste, I give you that.
Besides the bands already mentioned, I strongly advise the following to scare people with: Dying Fetus Napalm Death Godflesh Swans Emperor Mayhem Anal Cunt (really more to piss people off) G.G. Allin old Slayer Techno Animal John Zorn side projects Naked City and Painkiller
Really any decent black/death/grindcore metal band will do the trick, as will the more extreme punk bands and crazy experimental groups, or at least piss people off. ~D

New slayer is nothing to be shy to as well. They have gained some considerable talent and their subject matter is clear as day. Then again I would try to scare people with Wesley Willis only to find out that they like him (I'm talking about people who only know top 40 stuff). One of my favorites to scare people with is Clutch. Not so much their music but the mood that it puts most people who like Clutch. It's almost like someone who is about to lose their temper about anything. hard to describe but scary nonetheless. Excuse me but my drink is empty...

Few people have the beanbags to be different with their music. just listen to Hemopheliac from John Zorn, Mike Patton and Ikue Mori. I am sure that sound would bleed from hearing this little masterpiece. **Please note: It is not advised that you listen to this while intoxicated on anything. it = hurtie** I make no friends at work with the music I play. <E

Well, if you like that, you should check out Amber Asylum. More violin/orchestral stuff, but with a softer feel and some great female soprano singing. Kind of the music you'd expect lots of girls in black and who write poetry would be into, at least to me.
There they are. ~D

i have a couple German friends, as there is a Mercedez Benz plant here. anyway, they can sing every word to any Rammstein song...imagine a crazy German driving a Passat at about 120 blaring Rammstein and singing every word. then imagine youre crammed in the backseat of the Passat with 3 other people. Oh the memories of Rammstein. another good German band is KMFDM (im prettysure theyre German, my friend Tim has his own KrautPower Double Hour...German radio show and he plays them on there all the time).

Merzbow is very yummy. his and Patton's project of Maldoror is very interesting (although not as scary) <E

To scare people? Akira Yamaoka. He did the soundtrack to all the "Silent Hill" games.
