Posted by Wilky The majority of 70's rock is just plain ol' good rock n' roll. I think a lot of people miss that. Far more substance than anything coming out of the current music industry. I would find you hard pressed to find a city in the U.S. that doesn't have a classic rock station.

You can say that again. Nobody was supporting any damn causes or trying to save the world, or letting photographers take crotch shots, all they really seemed to care about was making music. Most new stuff is all cookie cutter crap, ala American Idol and every other lousy reality show. RIP Ronnie Van Zant and God watch over what's left of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Shael

Jeff Buckley's cover version was better.

John Travolta is a traveler of both time and space, much like Robert Plant in the song Kashmir, but unlike him, does not accrue frequent flier miles.

KK, i must know: what are your thoughts about page, jones, and bonham touring with either steven tyler or chris robinson or even someone else that ISN'T robert plant, because plant doesn't wanna play "loud" music anymore?
will you go see them?

I was going to post about that, too. And of course, it's Page, Jones, and a different Bonham I can't decide: Is Plant being a spoilsport, or is he aging gracefully while the others make a last grab for money?

Led Zeppelin... credited with the most explicit yet not explicit lyric ever in the history of modern music: squeeze my lemon, baby, til the juice run down my leg uh huh let's see you sing that with a straight face at a karaoke bar?

No. I won't see them because it isn't Led Zeppelin. It was barely Led Zeppelin last December during the OZ thing. Close, but no cigar. I would have seen them then, but alas, I didn't have $200000 for tix and air fair. I saw Plant back in '88, around the time he was doing his rehash of Zep material...mixing elements of Zep into new stuff...and the show generally, in retrospect, sucked. It seems now, in retrospect, desperate. Stevie Ray Vaughn was the opening act, and I remember the night for that and that alone. Plant was an afterthought. Page, Jones, Bonham Jr. and What's-his-name is a cashing in attempt. I've read that Page has been selling off his enormous art collections, and some of his choicer real estate, because 'it takes up too much time/room.' My bet is that he's got a tax bill, and a Zep tour would settle accounts and make for additional retirement spending. Plant is wise to not go in for this. He has advanced so far beyond what Percy was, that he is a distinctly different songwriter/performer/musician. I'm looking forward to catching him (if I get the chance) with Alison Kraus. THAT will be killer. Zeppelin's time of dying was almost 30 years ago. The song remains the same because it hasn't been altered through hacked-up Sell Out gigs like the one Page and Co. are attempting to assemble now.
