I'm guessing I'm the last man on Earth who doesn't have an SKS. I can live with that.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

Third to last...

Friday before last, I got to go shooting... at work it's a breech-loading 8 gage industrial shotgun we use to shoot our lime kiln in recaust. This thing is hard mounted to a frame at the front of the kiln and has adjustments for pitch... my job was to make like an artillery loader and load as fast as I could will Little Bill kept firing... the thing is a blast! One of the small perks of my job. (we have to shoot the kiln to get buildup off the walls of it)

I'll be damned. My brother-in-law, Louis, works at a power generating facility. He used to use a Mossberg 500 12 gauge to shoot what they called "clinkers" off the tubes. You guys have strange jobs!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

I love the SKS. Never had any issues with any of mine.

Sort of odd to hear you say that. I've not heard of any real problems with my friends SKS's, but I just can't stand the damn things. Awkward, heavy, extended capacity mags are a bear to get in with the long tongue sticking out, trigger pull ranges from god awful to abysmal, etc. I'd have thought a Glock man would like a bit more refinement.

I know, give me shit. They are VERY accurate though Jons. Have had a Russian SKS since I was 13. It never disappoints me. I've hunted with a ChiCom-made SKS.

Accurate I will give you, and the ammo is cheap. I'm not saying its all bad. My assault weapon of choice is a HIGHLY modified M-1 carbine. With hand loaded soft tip ammo, it does a fine job on creatures of two and four legged variety up to 250 pounds or so. Not a long range weapon, but if they are over 150 yards away, call for redleg! And Andrew, I knew I liked you. I have two Hi-Powers. I live and die by John Moses Browning.
