Coupe or sedan? I like the Torana... A couple of years ago, I was in communication with this company (www.AussieCoupes.com) about importing a 72 Falcon XA or XB or an older Monaro or Torana. the prices weren't too bad for whatever car you were looking for.
|
I WISH it was a 2 door. Average ones of those now pull in 20K Australian. Mint ones are nearer 40K. Mine's a sedan, I'll dig a pic up when I get home. As for the Falcon XA/XB/XC hardtop body range they are like Icons of Aussie motorsport. One of them was the base car for Mad Max's Interceptor. If you like seeing the older Monaros and Toranas in action racing, you might want to scope out the Aussie Biante Touring Car Masters series, Toranas, Monaros, Camaros, Stangs, Falcons and older little cars like Cortinas, Minis and Escorts. Good stuff.

No pics of 5 because it threw a rod through the block after the second day. Cars 2,3, and 5 were bought from dealers, and the worst cars I've owned. Car 1 & 4 kicked ass and took names, and 6 was dorifto magnifico. Enjoy the long post. It's late at night, I get bored...

No Porsche 944's? We have a whole series for the things over here... Anyway found a few pics of me having a fang at Calder Park in Melbourne, Australia...
Unfortunately I cant find the pic of me with about 3 handfuls of opposite lock on and pointing at about 45 degrees to intended direction of travel shouting in the car "FARRRRKING OVERSTEEEER!!!!"

See here's the thing... That Minden Silver Galant was supposed to be a Zermatte Silver 944, but my mom told the woman not to sell it to me. (I think. She said her son bought it, but three years later it's SITTING there) It was going to be $100 NR, and at that time I'd saved up about $6.6k for this dream car of mine. I'd been EYEING it since I was 13; the same fucking car... But nooooo. Instead, my grandmother, who I live with, takes me out to see the Galant because they said no to the 944. I say I like it. This is December, mind you, and at 16 1/2 with a fresh licence, I was getting antsy for wheels... fast forward to July. I've had my licence for the better part of 7 months, and I'm fighting with the old bat about getting a car already... and she says I have a car, but they were keeping it for me until I was ready. *rolls eyes* At this point I learn I have a Galant, that I have to pay for it, and that she bought it because "you said it was nice." So instead of paying $100 and pouring my heart and soul into something I had passion for, I payed $1600 for something I had a love/hate relationship with... mostly because of the [STUPID] auto trans in it, that ultimately failed.
I like the black Galant because I bought it for $400, it lasted 15k miles, and I didn't ask my grandmother permission before buying her. HA!

my first car was supposed to be a 1984 Mustang GT, but it didn't turn out like that as the car my father had built was a fool killer. So I ended up with: but, i later got revenge with this... a 1984 Mercury Capri RS 5.0L that was a fool killer as well, but looked better.

Oldest to newest, with the reason I got rid of each one. 1980 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT (back when "Ranger" was an option package, not a minitruck). 351M V8, C6 3 speed auto (dead tranny, worn out engine) 1988 Honda Accord LXi 4 door - 2.0L EFI, 5 speed manual (stolen) 1988 Honda Accord DX 2 door - 2.0L carburated, 5 speed manual (roommate cracked the head by driving it with no coolant) 1996 Honda Civic EX 2 door - 1.6L VTEC, 5 speed manual (ran low on oil at about 200k, threw a rod) 1991 Acura Intgera LS hatchback - 1.8L EFI, 4 speed auto (burned massive amounts of oil by 200k miles - about 2 quarts per tank of gas, and ran on 3 cylinders by then) 1995 Honda Civic EX 2 door - 1.6L VTEC, 5 speed manual (hit by 18 wheeler at 206k, CRUNCH) 2001 Honda Accord LX 4 door - 2.3L VTEC, 5 speed manual (still driving, has 103k, original clutch). Yes, I'm a honda fanboy, and I also prefer manual. If you couldn't figure that out. I also have a tendency to destroy engines.

That 351M was such a fucking boat anchor. They would sit there and idle with no oil pressure... Knock Knock Knock Knock.

No, it just means you have no taste.

You ain't kidding - I put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on it and it would idle with about FIVE TO TEN PSI once it was hot. That was running straight 60 weight oil in it too. 10w30 was laughable, it just poured out as fast as you poured it in (the rear main seal was non-existent). Even at speed, it would only build up to about 30 PSI, but somehow it still ran for a few years like that. It also had upwards of 200k on it by then. And yeah, I have no taste now... but I do like the reliability. You know, as long as I keep an eye on the oil level and don't hydrolock the engines.

No surprise there... those cars were a nightmare!
1966 mustang- my project car got it off my aunt for 1000$ almost completely restored needs paint (has a 428 in it now although i have original 289 and trans on blocks ) |
an FE-series in a 66 Mustang? That must've taken some cutting and pasting because a big block was never offered until 1967 and that was just a 390cid. Right now, sitting my dad's garage is a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible (390/auto), next to it is my brothers' 1967 Ford Mustang (390/3-speed manual). Outside is the 1978 Ford Thunderbird street rod my father built. That's got a 429 CJ/C6 auto. Next to that is a 1978 Ford Mustang II that is probably going to get either the last 351 Windso or the last 428 CJ my dad has.
the car has been painted a different shade of red and my father has done some trim work... the thing looks awesome now. In fact, the other two Thunderbirds and one Cougar XR7 have all aped my dad and went with the big wheel, hood scoop routine... but none have the engine to back it up.
