I'm looking into the LED LENSER P14, With adjustable beam- up to 961 ft range, 4 AA-most widely available batteries out there. 180 hour battery life $103

I don't invest large amounts in my flashlights, I tend to lose or break them no matter how good they are, so far good one is energizer hard case series in 2aa, 2c and 2d LED, range from 10$ to about 30$, water proof, shock proof, idiot proof, and for special occasions my husky 3 million candle power, it'll even warm you up haha
|
|
I use a Mini Maglight 3-AA LED flashlight. It works great and is surprisingly bright for being a MiniMag.
|
|
anything LED works great, just like to keep a redlense on the damn things to not attract the attention.
http://wikimapia.org/ best tool ever ^^^ |
|
Personally, I take my Surefire A2 Aviator with me. Figure its got 3 red leds for low light and a 80 (i think) lumen main beam when needed. Beyond that, just a cheapo 6 led light with build in laser works wonders.
|
|
I look for a Stenlight S7 caving headlamp
About 300$ But its for life!

Streamlight.
Play hard or die tryin. |

How did you go with the Led Lenser? I've not heard much about them on here. I have a P7 and always wondered what the P14 would be like.

I use the Surefire E2d Led Defender.

Th p14 works wonders for me, so far I've used it 5+ hours on the high output setting and it still gots juice left.

That's some nice even lighting from such a compact torch. Cheers for the feedback.

I use a nite lite hunting lite when needed its a bit heavy but offers a knob that dims the lite when needed or blasts bright lite if wanted for hours on end for backup and defence a 3D maglite and a pocket maglite can never go wrong with maglites I own 2 3D'S and 2 2D's and have put them through all kinds of abuse.

Hey midwest urban85, where did you get the mount for the light that I see attached to the hat? I have a few carbide miner's lamps, but I can't find a hat attachment.
Sometimes I wonder if my obsession with flashlights led to my interest in Urban Exploration, or conversely, if my interest in exploration led to my flashlight obsession |

The hat came with the mount attached. I have both a hard hat and the billed hat pictured above, otherwise here is a link for the nite lite brand hat. http://www.huntsma...racket_LP2008.html

Posted by Samsquench I use a Husky Tools 3d light (much like a 3d maglite) and a brinkmann led light which really sucks and i don't recommend it (picture below, to further help you avoid the brinkmann)
|
Its true. I still use the Brinkmann for my emergency light. The battery life is great, but it doesnt throw light worth a damn. A good buddy of mine uses a Delta Force by Smith & Wesson, it puts my old Surefire to shame. In fact i just ordered one and the price is unbeatable. http://www.cheaper...t.com/38100-1.html

Posted by Kemper I wonder if it would be possible to hook a car headlight to a battery and use that as a light source... If so, that would be my choice.
|
Actually the now infamous Peter Sand from Minneapolis did this. He had a rig he wore on his back that consisted of 4 headlights and a motorcycle battery.

I got the p17 a few months back. LOVE IT!
Oh Noes!!! IT'S ANOTHER NOOB!!! |
|
I use this in a 6D maglite. http://www.battery...n.com/tle-6k2.html Its almost too bright for drains, allows me to focus (flood/spot) the beam and runs for < 12 hours on 6 D cells. Having said that however, always carry 3 sources of light whenever draining/caving or exploring after dark.

This is an excellent one, and I got it for free. http://www.4imprin...ode-LED-Flashlight

Mini-maglite- 2x AA batterie model: ~water proof, ~durable, ~good quality, ~comes with an extra bulb(stored in the shaft), $20- a great price for a reliable flashlight...
They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn! |
