I saw a guy with a 1988 Mazda B2200 pickup with a 5.0L he had the rear bumper filled with concrete. I debated on doing that to mine back in the day but decided to just get a camaro instead.

My friend's truck is a 1988 Toyota with a Chevy 357 in it, it's loud as fuck. And he just got a semi horn installed on it, that's always fun, to have some dumbass look under them hood and get blasted with the horn.

Didn't HOTROD mag. put a caddy 500c.i. in a chevette back in the 80's. I seem to remember them being delighted by the fact that it was the most basic chevette and even had the radio delete plate from the factory. It was a screamer.

Then there was thier classic Caddyhack story about takin a late 70's eldorado and taking off as much weight as possible to get some speed out of it. In the end it was just 4 wheels a couple scraps of frame, a fuel cell and a seat. Oh, and a big ass 472c.i. caddy motor and trans.

Think they got in the 12's

I don't blame people for thier mistakes, but I do expect they pay for them.

There is a local guy here that shows up at all the car shows with a 5.0 Miata. Very clean install, looks factory. Years ago the racers/ car builders Titus and Beck produced a small number of cars called the "Shogun". It was a Ford Festiva with a Taurus SHO Yamaha built V6 stuffed into the back seat. It was as wide as it was high, and it showed Porsches and Ferrari's it's taillights!! Apparently, it was one hell of a ride!! A neat little factoid...The first production version was bought by Jay Leno!!!

Put ^ this in perspective, my grandmothers' neighbor when I was a teenager had an 86 Chevy shortbox 4x2 pickup with a 3-speed manual/straight 6. It was gutless, a turd, climbed hills slow and painfully. Anyways, somehow he was given a big old Sedan DeVille, I think a 72 maybe? 74? It had the 500cid Caddy V8 in it... So him and my father decided to put said Caddy V8 into said little red Chevy... WHAT AN ANIMAL!
All that torque hit at once... BANG and you were spinning! It would just keep accelerating and accelerating... it was endless! You'd open the hood and it was all engine... from radiator to firewall, inner fender to inner fender nothing but Caddy V8!
As far as I know, the truck is still somewhere in Clinton County NY or Chittenden County VT.

The Tempo did come with a 3.0L, so i imagine it wouldn't be too difficult. I know, i know, different engines, but it proves a V6 can be stuffed in there. The big trick would be to find a Tempo that still had a floor in it!! Ooooh, actually, find an all wheel drive Tempo and put the SHO engine in it!!! That would launch like a scared rabbit with a firecracker up it's ass!!

I was thinking that since the Tempo V6 shared the Taurus 3.0 liter, that the engine mounts would probably be in damn near the same place as the SHO, but I could be horribly mistaken.

The AWD Tempo used to have differential issues with the 2.3 liter, let alone an SHO... plus they're as rare as rocking horse poo in these parts. I've seen one. It didn't work.

What were the issues with them? I've only worked on a couple in the past, and it wasn't driveline related. There is still one AWD Tempo kicking around here that i know of. Another swap idea would be the Mazda 2.5 V6 out of a Probe. That is one sweet motor.

Comparing the Vulcan 3.0L to the SHO 3.0L is insulting... the only thing a Vulcan was good for was turning 200,000+ miles without fear or hesitation. Now, the preferred swap for front-wheel drive Ford is taking an SHO engine/transmission and shoehorning it into a pre-91 Ford Escort. Can you say sleeper? It's like a 3800 SC V6 stuffed into a Cavalier... all go no show!

And since production of the Tempo stopped 14 years ago, they are getting almost as rare as the pre-91 Escort. Hell, finding an SHO that isn't blown up, beat up or just plain destroyed is getting near impossible. I know where there is a 3.2L SHO automatic sitting beside a burned out trailer, but i'm not sure I'd want to get in the car and move it for fear of some weird flesh-eating disease.
