Urban Exploration in Newfoundland entry by Trevzilla 1/3/2008 8:38 AM
| OK, so I've got a few places under my belt already, and always looking for more. The current projects I'm thinking of are: 1. Trying to find a way into the Utility tunnels that run under downtown, I've seen a few guys from the power company head down there, but it requires a crane to lift the huge manholes, I'm hoping to find another more discrete way in. 2. Finding my way into some old ammunition storage tunnels that I have found. I tried picking the lock to them, but I think the lock is broken, as it will turn but wont release. So, I also tried to cut the lock with Bolt Cutters, after a few wasted nights being watched by Harbour Patrol, I got my chance, but the shitty bolt cutters they sell are too weak. so it failed. After a few more wasted nights, I got drunk with a friend and unplannedly went down with the bolt cutters and a propane torch which were still in my trunk. I heated the lock and cut it very successfully. Not wanting to go in with all these tools we just cut it and took off. I was going to put a different lock on there the next day, but when I went to check it out, the lock was cut, but on the side that doesn't pivot so its not free enough to take off the latch. A few more wasted nights being watched by harbour patrol and still no success cutting the other side. 3. Hoping to go travelling around the province and hit up some more rural industrial locations such as closed down paper mills and things like that. Other than that, I hope there are some people from Newfoundland reading this who want some adventure too, because most of my current friends aren't into anything other than these tunnels....or are too busy.
