Best mid range Hybrid?

I'm almost ready to get a mid range Hybrid bike. Somewhere from about 500.00 to 800.00. The Marin's look quite good, and the Brodies. I heard today though that (in his opinion) the Rocky Mountains are better. I don't need disk brakes, so will put that extra into better components. 24 speeds is fine too. Still have my old boat anchor Kuwahara mountain bike for the mucky stuff. Thanks for suggestions.

Rather than a hyrbid, why not a cyclocross bike? So versatile, and oh so sexy.

It seemed like a good idea at the time...

That's the reply I was looking to say, definitely go with a cross-bike. You will love one. Sexy indeed.

Great advice, thanks! I've been having second thoughts, and was going to consider a mountain bike, with more hybrid tires. I'll check out a Cyclo Cross, don't know anything about them. Something that can handle trails really makes more sense than a hybrid.

Yeah, a cyclocross style bike is where it's at. Learn a bit about it here:
