A few pics from the old LA Zoo

I went out to the Old Zoo to wander around and climb on the cages. I found a few buildings I hadn't seen before. Got a few pictures to share.

Reminds me of the Rock in SF (Alcatraz for all you non-locals).

Very cool stuff. Where is this exactly in relation to the new zoo?

Wait, when did this zoo close down. For some reason, I remember going there as a kid. I recognize some of those scenes.

The new zoo is only a few miles away, just across the way from the park.

Good place to go on my bike.
I'll see if I could make a trip from the IE down to there in the near-future.
I sense some night shots.

Do you know what parts of Griffith Park burned? I know fire crews were attending to the observatory, thats a given.

Not sure if The zoo burned but the fire was close. The zoo is adjacent to the golf course and the fire was right on top of it. Lets hope its ok. I plan to take a ride down as soon as its open.

Why would people worry about an abandoned zoo burning down?

Not really worried, but concerned. It is one of my favorite places and a great piece of history for L.A.
