Sonikgirl a website is a great idea, but like you I have no idea where to start in making a website, but would definitely love to make contributions to one.

Tribeach, the idea was that when you clicked on Mcnabs in the db(since it is one place really) that you would then see a gallery for each fort or spot on the island, but now that we can only have one gallery per location you are right, and it should be split up eventually.

The way I see it, each battery/fortress is its own separate entity, each deserving its own entry. If three or four happen to exist within the confines of an island or a park, it doesn't make them any less separate.

Well, if you think about it, most of the fortified areas in HRM should have their own entries. But it should probably be subdivided.

Like this:

Point Pleasant:
-Cambridge Battery
-Fort Ogilvie
-etc.

York Redoubt:
-The Redoubt
-York Shore Battery
-Practice Battery
-etc.

McNabs Island:
-Fort McNab
-Fort Ives
-etc.

Then for everything else, just have single entries, like Citadel Hill, Georges Island, Devil's Battery (Hartlin Point), etc.

There is no option to subdivide a database entry. They'd need to be entered as separate locations. The HDC should really account for like a dozen database entries, or more. I've got to edit York Redoubt to reflect only the Redoubt and add entries for each of the other batteries. The same ought to be done with McNabs.. McNabs itself isn't the ruin, its the batteries and forts on the island that we go to see..

Can anyone provide info on the status of underground tunnel #2 at York Redoubt. Last update said both tunnels (one was covered with railway ties but was open and accessible last I heard) were open. I have yet to see the inside of tunnel #2.

N250cc posted some pics in the DB of the inside of the tunnel. The air is extremely stale, but breathable. The railway ties were put in puddles as make-shift bridges.

I saw his pictures in the DB but they were a couple of months old. We braved the grid-lock that is the Armdale Anger Circle (or rotary or round-a-bout) yesterday when it was reported on the radio that it was backed up to Oxford St.. Took us twenty minutes in traffic but got there in one piece. BOTH tunnels are open now. The one that was closed is significantly longer than the one that has been open over the last couple of years. I`ve never seen so many identical looking black spiders..! Took pictures, will post soon if anything turned out!

Oh, I know what the inside looks like, if you recall a post a few months ago, I mentioned that I climbed through one of the windows. -_-' Both of us went down there during the summer too, still open. My only objective now is to gain access to the observation post at the top of the hill.

My bad, lol. Anyways, for the ObsPost, my only guess on how to get in is to ask the park maintenance guy to get inside. Or I COULD pick the lock under the cover of darkness. I mean technically, it wouldn't be forced entry...it'd be precision entry.

Self plug - a little video tour of Fort George I shot with a friend. Pretty crap actually but you might find it of mild interest.
