I'd be down for that. As long as it's on a weekend.

Since I'm anticipating another clean-up results list over the next little while I wanted to repost last year's results for potential comparison.
McNabs Island Cleanup Results < on 6/13/2009 2:08 PM > Posted on Forum: UER Forum Halifax is letting sewage pour into the harbour like its 1909.. No surprise, its all washing up on the island. Thanks for the clean up! To members of Friends of McNabs Island Society The annual McNabs Island cleanup held on Sunday June 7, 2009 was a big success thanks in part to good media coverage and the great weather. Our enthusiastic volunteers collected 260 garbage bags + 40 blue bags. There were 120 volunteers who travelled on the boat to the island plus 30 girl guides joined us on the island. Along with hundreds of plastic tampon applicators and used syringes from the failed sewer system of Halifax, we found plastic garbage of all sorts, Styrofoam, rope and Tim Horton's coffee cups. We also found unusual items like: * metre high Santa Claus lawn ornament * bucket seat of a car * bar fridge * several hard hats * very old and weathered large geometry protractor * baby soother * various articles of clothing from underwear, coats, pants, boots, * an NDP election sign from the last election * patio table * stereo speakers * fibre glass hockey blade * a large purple stuffed dog * carpet * a large pail full of used oil filters * propane tanks * membership card to Nubodys * shotgun shells * marine flares This brings the total amount of garbage collected from McNabs Island since 1991 to over 8,500 bags. Thanks to everyone who came out to help! |
Although I'm kind of thinking now that the work party's have no bearing on the annual clean-up. The annual cleanup gets 120ish people, these work parties have ~10.

I've always known that was there. Don't know what happened to the gallery that I had put up with that in there though.
