No, it is not forced religious observance because attending the school is a choice. Like I said before, I went to Christian school, and I was required to attend religious ceremonies. That was not forced religious observance, because I was there to get a good education. I didn't believe in any of it, but I had to follow all of their rules, both inside the school and out, as part of the deal for getting the education.

Actually, the article is a bit unclear there. It says 10% of students will be non-Muslim, but doesn't say if they will attend by choice or location. Unless I missed it. If attendance of the school is completely voluntary then MM is correct.

Well, yes, not absolutely clear (especially considering how incompetent most journalists are), but
Posted by DevilC The Madani High School in Leicester will be required by law to accept 10 per cent of its 600 pupils from a non-Muslim background.

seems to indicate that the school is being required to accept people who want to go there, not that people will be told that they have to go there.

If attendance is voluntary then there is no issue.

If state funds are paying the tab there is an issue. Some day Christians will wake up to the reality that all of the arguments they use/used to jam Christianity down everyone's throat will be used to jam Islam down your throat. Short sighted.

What should we be teaching children?
It is a truism that almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so, and will follow it by suppressing opposition, subverting all education to seize early the minds of the young, and by killing, locking up, or driving underground all heretics.
