Anyone see this? i thought it was one of the better action movies ive seen recently.

It was good, something you wouldn't expect outa hollywood though. I could almost believe that being real, and in a way it has already happened in the U.S.

The beginning was slow and I couldn't understand half of what V was saying, but this was an awesome movie. Totally unexpected. I was on the edge of my seat for the last third...
Based on the trailers, I expected a lame mix of The Matrix and xXx with a political twist. I was wrong!!
Though I did have some problems with the movie:
*moments of incomprehensibility
*plot holes
*over the top references to America's gov't
*the notion that "terrorist" always refers to a revolutionary
*complete unwavering moral support of V as the "hero"
But despite it's shortcomings, I really think V for Vendetta is a must-see movie.
My favorite moment where I was thinking "Awwww SNAP!":

Lets travel back in time!
V was amazing. Some of the issues above are legit, but despite them it now qualifies as one of my top ten favorites!

An amazing movie, in some ways reminiscent of Fight Club. I watched them back to back, and couldn't help but be suprised by the many similarities.

i finally got to see this movie over my long weekend and I was very impressed. It had the feel of 1984 without the darkness... It really disturbed me and the end i found very outstanding.
anyways, it was a very pleasant surprise.

One of the worst movies ever. No wonder Alan Moore demanded that his name be removed from the film's credits...he hated the film that much. Trash this film and rent Michael Redford's "1984" instead.

i may be in the minority here, but i hated this movie! it just made social upheaval breifly fashionable for scene kids!

I agree with what you are saying from the trailers I didn't find it all that great but when I saw it I was astound at how great it was. However, I feel that some of your problems with it seem to be unfoundable.
I assume the incomprehensibility youa re talking about is with the way V talks and the writers did this for several reason two of which being to show his love of the letter V and that he is well educated. If you listen to him closely enough then you would have a good understanding of what he is saying. To complain about that would mean that you must have a lot of issues with Brad Pitt's character in Snatch.
Time and time again they described that the basis of this movie is not about the American government and the only reference to it was how it collapsed due to its greed and other current issues we are dealing with. If Rome fell, it is possible that nations like the US and Britain could fall as well.
I really didn't see that many plot holes, maybe if you could be a little more specific.
Now with the Moral support for V are you talking how the director/writers make us the audience believe that or the characters in the film? If its the audience thats what they are depicting him as because that what he is in the movie. If its the charaters in the movie, not everyone agrees with his views but many of them do start to believe in what he is saying and eventually follow him.

Did you get this movie at all? Because I can understand someone not liking it but it seems like you missed the point entirely.

Well by your previous statement you make it sound like it was written as a fashion trend. On top of my head the only other movies that truly follow the same ideas are A Clockwork Orange and 1984, both of which are books which kinda copied the idea from an even older book (name escapes me at the moment). Now other movies somewhat follow the same ideas like Sin City and Fight Club but none of the movies above say the exact same thing.
I wouldn't say this has been said a million times before but ideas like it have. What do you really expect from cultures that have been writing for centuries about ideas and today along with writing they are also making movies? I am not going to say there is nothing new to do but really how unlikely is it that your going to read see something that hasn't somewhat said it before.

I thought it was a lovely movie, with surprisingly smart dialogue (from V, mostly) for the amount of fighting and explosions. I thought the psychological twists were absolutely amazing.
One thing that the movie was probably not intended for was the scenes where we see the life of the lesbian woman through the notes she wrote. My mother, who watched the movie with me, has no love for gay/lesbian people -- however, after that movie, she's been much, much better. I was amazed.
As a sort-of off-topic thing, we studied this movie in Drama Class this past year. It was awesome. *thumbs up*
As to what you've been saying, Propaganda --
Yes, the ideas behind V for Vendetta aren't new or cutting edge. But this is because governments and world powers have been falling for centuries because of their own greed and controlling behaviour. (Thank you to dewey for bringing up Rome!)
The thing that makes V for Vendetta such a great movie (I thought, at least) was the way they went about the government overthrow. Instead of looking at just the story as a whole, you have ot take a look at nuances of characters, subtle twists in the story, to things as simple as the cinematography. That's why the movie was so amazing, not because it brought up some sort of revolutionary idea about governments being overthrown.

The people are the ones who instituted the government, they are the ones the government relies on; therefore the government has no right to control the people as it sees fit.
A great movie, dystopian fiction is always really interesting.

it's mildly ironic the role that John Hurt played in the film, considering his role in "1984".

The film is also pretty ironic considering that Guy Fawkes was a blundering moron with speech problems and mind comparable to Timothy McVeigh.
